Bruins owner said they might have to be a budget team....
Be happy you are a leaf fan right now with folks, could get ugly for some teams. |

They still have a lot of work to do but this will help. It's mostly going to help unload players. Who knows, maybe increase their value by 10% or so if the Kapanen deal is anything to go on. |

Lehner re-ups w/ Vegas and signs a cap freindly deal at $5M per......driving Holtby's asking price down! Would that not cause more teams to court Holtby??? At, say $5.5 AAV x 5yrs, he might be appealing to quite a few teams! Calgary, Toronto, Carolina, Colorado, even Boston and maybe Detroit. Hmmmmmm |

Agreed.
Tbh I have no idea what Freddy will get but I think there’s a good chance we are pleasantly surprised like we were with the Kapanen trade.
If we are talking trading Freddy in a normal year we probably don’t get too excited for the return but get decent value.
His 1M salary could bring us back something that might shock us a bit.
Maybe not a draft pick but a good forward locked in to a decent contract that a budget team is willing to trade away?
Trading for Freddy and signing him to a 3 year deal for 5 M is an easy sell when you tell your owner it’s really 4x3.8.
We’ll see. |

If we are giving up a forward to make the team better (includes trades, ufa signings, and filling gaps in all positions), should it be Nylander or Marner? |

Jacobs is one of the wealthiest and most influencial owners in the NHL. He has a reputation for not overpaying his players - this is not big news, Boston is currently a budget team that has deep pockets and will be a contender. It will probably be a sh!tty off season for free agents in general.

Holtby will be taklng a haircut for sure , had a lousy year. Doubt the Leafs have any interest. Capitals probably really regret trading Grubauer.

I can't franking believe my money is going to pay to keep the Panthers afloat, when this is what Panthers fans can get:
$55 gets you a ticket, buffet and unlimited beer - on a franking Saturday night game!!!

I remember being like 10 years old watching a leafs game on tv when they were playing florida and they were advertising during a tv timeout 4 tickets (upper bowl) 4 hot dogs and 4 sodas for $22.
That was about 20+ years ago but jeezus what a deal.
Edit: Hell im sure they were running that promotion last year too. |

If they HAD to trade one it should be Nylander. Trading Marner is just wrong. |

Agree with you Zezel. I would hate to trade Nylander, he scored 31 goals - tied for 15th with Bergeron. If you trade Willie it's not for some middle of the road sh!tbag d-man. At 23 he's going to get better IMO.

Nylander needs to learn how to play more consistent and with a bit more of an edge.
Marner needs to learn how to shoot the damn puck so he can pose even more of a threat.
Both have a ton of natural skill, but are lacking certain things from their games. Good news is they can actually learn how to do it hopefully. |

Nylander is a future All Star...Marner is a future HOFer... |

Marner has a weak shot.
Nylander has a good shot and can carry the puck, but does nothing else well.
Marner does need to develop a shot that can score from more than 10 feet from the net though.

Looks like krug will be available too.

a rielly trade / sign krug scenario seems a little tempting to me. maybe in a package deal with andersen.
but i think the better play is to keep rielly long-term and pass on krug. |
