Stay on the "trade him" tip then, I don't think any team would start negotiations at 5m unless they wanted a quick no. Players are simply more expensive than that.

Willie Nylander is the closest comparable I can find. Is what it is.

I would trade sam for nylander today

Interesting. So a guy develops faster so he gets an honest projection, and Reinhart is slower to develop and is unworthy of an honest projection.

Fascinating.

Sam has been in the league for 6 years lol are you going to tell me Ristolainen is going t o improve next..

I think we would see Sam's true picture if he played on the 2nd line away from Jack or if as some want play him 2nd line center and if he gets 60+ points then he would deserve the big bucks. Also, if Jack was ever injured and did not lead the PP and Sam got 60+ points then I would shut up about him forever, and I would pay everyone on here 20 bucks each but it would not happen and he would be closer to a passive Sam Bennett than not.

FWIW, Jack did have the ankle injury and Sam stepped up, his 5v5 scoring was actually never higher than during that time.

I know it's a slippery slope to traverse, but I'd suggest he's a competent first line winger, but needs an elite finisher to be successful. Can you argue he's a complimentary player because of this? Yes, absolutely. But you can also argue that he compliments Jack very well, as a distributor. I can see both sides of that particular coin.

He had 10 more points than Larry. As a friggen defensive defenseman.

Funny thing is Skinner played his best stretch with Larsson.

Talking about pieces fitting together. Larry takes care of the d-zone and allows Skinner to maximize what he does well in the o-zone.

Is Larry an ideal 2C ? No.

However he will go somewhere and be a teams 3C and if they put him with wingers that can produce offensively it will be a very productive line

You've tried the bad nylander, now try the good one. Another not-center to try at center

Exciting.

The Titans ran the ball better and held up better defensively.

The Titans won the game.

So didn’t the formula work ?

I forgot about that. Skinner did pair the best with him didn't he? Then Kuch low bridged him and that was over.

I remember when he played when Jack was injured and it wasn't all that impressive. It may have been ok at the time because around that time he only had 8 5/5 goals the year before or right around that time so if he improved from there that is improving from didly squat.

I think Jack would be Jack with or without him. A player with some size, skill and who plays the boards and corners might really help Jack with VO on the other wing.

With Larry at 2C for the whole year we make the 24 team playoff

Disagree that he didn't elevate and the 5v5 pace is career wide, so includes all games.

But I understand the second part. You watch a duo like MacKinnon-Rantanen and it makes you wonder what Jack could do if he had a big, fast, bull of a winger like Rant.

He was the 7th most utilized forward. I don't think underutilizing Larry was the problem.

Yeah actually had 7 goals and 3 assists in the 15 games that they played together, before that Sweden trip, after that Skinner fell apart. Henrique might actually work really well with Skinner.

I used to point to Teuvo Teravainen as the best comp, but he's pulled ahead of Sam. 5 years @ 5.4m, coming off a similar 2 year bridge. It's a bargain, but a fair starting point for Sam.

I remember watching and the team and Sam were ho hum and I remember him getting criticized for failing to help carry the team while Jack was hurt so I mean the analytics might be ok but that wasn't what was showing at the time so much. He might have had a few good games that swayed the numbers but overall it was blah.
