Has Staal said anything besides being "stunned"?

I would imagine Ralph has him drinking the kool-aid already.

As someone said earlier, we are a better team now than we were 2 hours ago. Brilliant move - get the stop-gap 2C vet with leadership skills and reduce our salary cap by $1.25 million. And we now can keep our 8OA. Adams still has tradeable assets in Risto/Montour+ to upgrade at RW and perhaps 3C (if Cozens isn't it).

I do fail to see how this benefits Minnesota in any way.

It makes the Sabres better. The question is how much.

Only 5 more years of Parise and Suter. Here we are counting the days when Okposo comes off our books - I can't imagine those two albatrosses.

If they're going to spend 6.5 then spend it on a 2RW like Dadonov. That's adding 50 goals between Staal and Dadonov

They got a 50 - 60 point 2C for the cost of....virtually nothing.
Yes, they got better , way better at the 2C position AND saved resources fo upgrade elsewhere.
Can't make the value of this trade in isolution, must be considered in the bigger picture!
Let's wait on that.

All good points. The good news is that the other pieces should be easier to get. Would still be nice to see one more hockey trade made.

Let's see what happens at 2RW know, does he make a trade, or does he fill that spot in FA.

Good start by adams. I was hoping for monahan but im impressed by this trade and staal should fit perfectly for us.

Hopefully this is just the first domino of a wild offseason for the sabres

Thought the Pegulas were going cheap?
Isn’t Stephan over $6mil??

If we are taking him,
they better be giving up a really good piece(s) along with to take their Cap dump

- jdfitz77

they are going cheap

dumping montour will solidify that

hell we cut payroll by 1.5% today alone

Guerin says he's trying to find a different pathway to success here and "sometimes you have to take some drastic measures."

Guerin confirms Johansson will play center in Minnesota. Dean Evason knows him well from Washington and feels he can be an impactful centerman

Are all these x Pittsburgh people morons?

I listened to the Adams presser tonight. Pham asked him point blank about his ability to spend to the cap. No clear answer.
