$3 mil

Assuming Arizona paid his $3M bonus, which is uncertain with the issues they're having, I believe his salary this season, the final season of his contract, is only $2M.

The trade just makes sense for the Sabres. Good work, KA!

Now 36, what was the Hammer+Garland trade rumor? I missed that one.

Only 5 more years of Parise and Suter. Here we are counting the days when Okposo comes off our books - I can't imagine those two albatrosses.

Maybe teams should try to sign players who “want to play close to home” or “play in a cosmopolitan city”.

Case in point with those two guys. Nut up and play under an overpass for $8 mill a year. Retire at 36 and live like a king wheeling chicks and sniffing blow. No motivation living near home. No character.

pham:

"The Sabres getting E.Staal for Johansson is the perfect trade for the Sabres. He can be a great mentor for Cozens and the kid doesn't need to be rushed. He will also be a great leader to help Eichel too. "

that's another plus

carolina connection came through for the first-time gm as staal had a m-ntc and didn't have the sabres on the list
- Michael Pachla

So does that mean his “don’t trade me to” list had buffalo on it or was buffalo was on the list and waived??

They can't stay healthy. Those two were great players that just started breaking down. Everyone knew those were two bad contracts.

buffalo was not on his 10-team list before or when he updated it yesterday...the "carolina connection" comes in because they both played for the cup-winning canes and ka knows him well

I like the “Carolina Connection” because it is connected with Stanley cups and finding good players through the draft.

Buffalo connection- bad drafting and years of pathetic ineptitude and guys like Botterill-AhlPlayer and garden gloves namby Pam by.

Bottom line- getting back former players and Execs because they played in buffalo will never work because there is no history of greatness or success.

Face it, Briere and Drury magically worked out. No one expected those two to light it up here. Magic. It wasn’t like we signed some big name guys.

Suter has missed a grand total of 4 whole games the past 5 years, and that was in the same season.

He's played every game in 4 of the last 5 seasons.

Just another Carolina connection, and a few guys being discussed. But don't think it happens with Sullivan out know.

Darn. I wanted the hammer. Well, guess we just have to see what the power trio has up their sleeve next. Very happy to be here for the first trade. Keep the train a rolling...

Alex Galchenyuk is not expected to return to the Minnesota Wild.
This come's directly from general manager Bill Guerin after being asked by Sarah McLellan of the Minnesota Star Tribune. Galchenyuk was a popular sleeper candidate heading into last season as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Unfortunately, he never fit in with the Pens and was dealt to the Wild where he finished the season with three goals and seven points in 14 games. He'll likely need to settle for a one-year, prove it deal as an unrestricted free-agent.

what a shocker, this guy is pure laziness.

Hopefully none of these 3 are on the roster
- jcragcrumple

Vesey is an easy yes for a 1 or 2 year on the cheap. He was the best PK on the team last year hands down and was just starting to get some offense rolling

I think you can get the same positive impact out of the LHD position at a much cheaper cost from Jon Merrill instead of Dillon.

I went full on lunatic with a mock roster sure to never, ever happen 😅😂

Skinner - Eichel - Dadonov
Olofsson - Monahan - Craig Smith
Kahun - Staal - Cozens
Maroon - Larsson - Okposo

Me: the Sabres should go after Eric Staal. His contract and term are perfect for our situation.
Sabres HockeyBuzz: he has a NTC and would never come to Buffalo. He wants to retire in Minnesota. You’re so stupid you don’t know anything.
Me: (Sigh, I am dealing with idiots)
SH: you’re a moron.

Botts would have been all over that. I remember him talking about how hard it is to make a trade. I wonder how hard this trade for was
