Garland and Hjalmarsson was what I heard.

$5.775M in cap compared to $2.8M in actual salary for the 2 of them combined.

Yeah, Garland would have fit in nicely at either W, and Hjalmarsson could have helped Dahlin for a year.

With Sullivan out, think it was all talk.

People keep bringing up Kerfoot and he's just so mediocre and vanilla. He only produced points of any kind when he was part of a loaded Avalanche power play.

Otherwise, he's a 30 point player.

No thank you.

- kingcong39

I would prefer McCann if I were to be honest but I could also see Kerfoot and a prospect like Bracco as a return for Montour as well.

Kerfoot did defend quite well as a 2C in Colorado.

Give me 35 points and defend well and I’ll take that from a 3C.

Ideally I’d bring back Larry but that ship has sailed from the sounds of it

Are you ok with Kerfoot being solid defensively, but not great, and being a 25 point even strength player? That's what he's been his 3 years in the league.

He only produced 40+ points due to being on the Avalanche power play during his 2 years with them, when he had 17 points and 14 points on the power play.

McCann is virtually the same player as Kerfoot at even strength.

Kerfoot has a $3.5M cap hit the next 3 seasons, but his actually salary is $2.6M (due to the Leafs paying his $1M bonus already for this season), $2.7M, and $2.7M.

McCann is an RFA.

I would say advantage Kerfoot if you are factoring in the contract when choosing between the two.

Give me two more top 9 capable forwards.

A 2nd/3rd pair LHD

And a capable 1A Goaltender to Ullmark’s 1B

If we can do all of that while retaining 8th OA and we come out of the draft with Rossi/Lundell/Holtz the Sabres get an A for their offseason.

Yes I am. I would think playing with Kahun and Cozens along with getting PP2 minutes he would hit 35 points and his defensive game would help offset the loss of Larry.

If Reinhart is not going to be traded for an impact Center like Monahan, then you are looking at Kerfoot, McCann, Soderberg, or Haula regarding another Center and somebody like Craig Smith, Josh Anderson, or maybe even Dadonov for an impact Winger.

If I were Adams, I would be calling Jon Merrill's agent now to get a deal done for that LHD opening.

Moving Reinhart for Monahan is a at best a sideways move, if not a backwards move.

Staal’s impacts are relatively close to what Monahan gave Calgary this year for the most part at 1/4 of the cost.

I don’t think Montour is all that good tbh with you.

Montour for McCann would be a sideways move but with our redundancy at RHD it fills a more important need for the Sabres up front

I don't agree only from the aspect that you would also need to factor in the winger being brought in to fill the opening Reinhart leaves.

I did not say Montour for McCann is a fair deal, I was only comparing McCann and Kerfoot as you said you would prefer McCann between the 2.

I would prefer Andrew Copp as the 3rd line Center, but I doubt that he is available for Montour.

I also doubted Mojo was tradable for Eric Staal.

I have to think Guerin has something in the works to replace Staal and you are right Dumba will be part of it.

Well, Guerin had between 17-20 teams to deal with, for all intents and purposes. Not sure if TBL, NYI or DAL were on his NTL.

Now, let's look at the 20 worst teams that would make sense for Staal, as Staal's said before that he would continue to put playoff teams on his his NTL.

Teams looking for a 2C trying to win (compete) now: BUF, SJS, NYR, WPG, FLA

In all liklihood, these are the most obvious teams. We know BUF wasn't on the NTL, but any one of these four could have been. There's also a chance Guerin didn't want to deal within the division or the conference. Leaves Buffalo, New York and Florida. New York already got rid of him, I don't really see him fitting what they're trying to do there. So you're down to Buffalo and Florida.

The closest type of player, multipositional and has a contract is Noel Acciari. Quite a different player than Mojo and less offensively effective. If Guerin thinks Mojo can play top 6C, then god bless.
