Why are ppl still talking about Center?
Cozens or Mitts should be in that slot

If we can’t keep Larsson for 4C,
then we can try Asplund, Lazar &/or Routsalainen
.

Correct fitz, we should be talking wingers and goalies now. Hall anyone? How about a multiplayer trade with Arizona starting with kuemper (spelling) and maybe placate gerbe and talk Keller too?

Sign Hall UFA
Kuemper and Keller for Hutton, middlestadt and Reinhart?

Adding Haula or Soderberg would solidify the center depth and allow cozens to enter at wing and play center should the need arise. Mittelstadt will never be a checking 3C and i wouldn't want Cozens to be automatically given that spot.

Supposedly the Sabres are linked to Haula. That would be a good add. Wouldnt cost much and would provide the coverage for Cozens that Botterill should have given Mittelstadt

I’d like Haula, he isn’t too good defensively though so as long as we can bring in another 200 foot winger for the top 9 that would be ideal.

I'm hopeful they could move risto or montour for that guy - whoever he is. I also like the Craig Smith FA add as an alternative if the financial situation allows. That would be a decently formidable top-9

I have to say I admire your complete 180 from wanting to get a long term 2C, to getting two 1-2 year stop gaps

It was never about long term for me. It was about getting someone talented enough to play second line center to bridge to Cozens. Staal checks that box for me.

That wasn't a 180 either. I've liked that idea since I heard it from Pham a month ago.

Idk man all I’ve been reading the past few months was how are we gonna acquire a 2C without giving up 8th OA.

I guess there is still time and perhaps I’m jinxing myself but so far we got one piece of the puzzle.

if they signed Soderberg and Fast

moved Montour

upgraded the goalie

we are probably close to competing for a top 8 spot if it can be fit in their budget

Im still shocked we got out of that without giving up at least Mittelstadt.

If you told me my option was Monahan for 8 or Staal for Mojo, I'm taking Staal every time. If anyone here suggested that Staal for Mojo was a legitimate option, that person would have faced the proverbial EVERYBODY LAUGHED outcome. It's an absurd trade.

I had heard Johansson might be moved for cap space, posted it when I heard it

but never thought that Staal could be had, esp for a worse player making more money

The value on the trade is great. But it’s still not a sure thing is a bonafide 2C at 36 years old.

Good chance he is, yes. But I’m never going to trust a guy on his last leg coming to a basement team. We’ve seen guys just ride out a year here before

Can’t say I expected the Staal deal only costing Mojo.

However I have always been on the keep 8th OA trade.

We have several assets to make another deal or two as well even without moving that pick.

He had 47 points in 61 games

Johansson as our fake 2C 30 points in 60 games

Eric staal has a similar season. He will be very happy with that [/img]

I would still look for a guy like Haula (not necessarily him just someone similar) who can hold down the 3C and move up to 2C if Staal just doesn't have it anymore, while still letting Cozens develop.

I do think that getting a top 6 RWer is now the most important position needing upgrading, followed by goalie.

He was on pace for 58 points.

He has missed 23 games in 17 seasons.

Depending on his linemates, he’ll get 55-65 points.

I’ll take that all day long for MoJo.

I liked Brock Nelson as a 2C option this past offseason before he got resigned in the Island.

With Pageau there and Barzal needed an extension I wonder if he could be had in the offseason.

Term length would be the main worry, but Dadonov is RW, actually can play both sides, but was RW on FL’s top line.

This is just a ?, Vancouver has no 1st or 2nd rnd picks the next 2 yrs, and Demko and Boeser are in the rumor mills. What would it take and would it be worth it.
