I mean, aside from the fact that he very visibly was, you’re correct.

It’s actually a huge indictment on both Scheifele’s effort level and the Jets coaching staff that Patrik Laine spent long stretches of the season having to lead both the forecheck and the backcheck on a shift by shift basis

(Also, we accidentally broke the quote system up there, so I don’t know what your Connor takeaway reply was actually replying to)

- Rexypoo

Laine also scored the fewest goals of his career and he played the most minutes with Scheifele ever. It's disjointed.

Laine may have led the Jets in whining about ice time, or standing stationary in one spot - oh about 30 feet from the net - while he waited for his line-mate Ehlers to put the puck in his sweet-spot. Or "fumbling-bumbling" the puck!
But that's about it!

Story on TSN today re Laine/Islanders.

I would laugh....but I think you are actually serious.

for consideration for backup goalie position - Jimmy Howard. should come in around the same dollar as Brossoit in a year with so many FA goalies, veteran, playoff experience. I see him as another safe choice for backup goalie -- and for backup safe is usually a good choice.

He was also running near a point per game, and was a totally different player this year

The man ran an .882 last year. He’s 36. He’s safely the worst option for Jets backup

I’m not giving this any thought, because it’s obvious you didn’t watch a second of Jets hockey

As I read your comments, I wonder, which planet are you from? Quite obviously one that doesn't televise hockey back to Earth!

Your comments are ridiculous! Copp as our #2C??? Was it you that said that Laine and Ehlers are very similar? They couldn't be more different.

But end of fire. I'll move on to other posters. In the end, it's each to their own.

Will this be the week that they announce Hellebuiyck as the Vezina winner?

If he doesn't win, they need to take a saliva test of those who voted. He's a given!

Graham - you and I watch the same games. Rexy doesn't watch, he looks at advanced stats.

Last year I mentioned that Laine had poor underlying numbers and you told me not to look at them as Laine is going to deliver goals, goals, goals. This year I say wow Connor is a 40/40 guy and you say look at his underlying numbers.

I understand we all have our biases. But this is nuts. You change the argument every time.

If you’re gonna ignore information, and lean on media generated narratives, can you at least be fun or creative about it?
You use the same arguments against Laine that people used to against Ovechkin... until he won doing the same things he always had.

Even though I often disagree with him, and occasionally have absolutely no idea whats going through his head, Ultimate makes for a fun and interesting debate.
You guys are just every 4th dude on the panel of talking heads at (name TV station) adding the same outdated platitudes to the echo chamber.

I really believe that if Connor-Scheifele-Ehlers all play together for the whole year and if Ehlers gets the same power play time as both Connor and Scheifele, that all 3 would be 40/40 guys. I will go so far and say that I think Ehlers is capable of scoring 50!

Last year Laine had poor underlying numbers. So did Connor.
This year, Laine improved. Connor did not.

He will be the first goalie in both Jets 1.0 and 2.0 history to win the Vezina.

I remember somebody once saying that Comrie was better than Hellebyuck lol.

Oh I don't think you'll see Conno-Scheifele-Ehlers together although I do think it would be very good line. Ehlers is about the only player that has seemingly much chemistry with Laine, so if Laine stays, I think you will see Laine-new#2C-Ehlers together which wouldn't be bad. Actually might be great!

New #2C - Cirelli? Larkin? Ah, Hischier? Who else, possibly on wish list? Best chance - Cirelli! No Domi!

As far as 40/40 - can see it for Connor and Scheifele, if they play 80 games. Ehlers - one of my favorite players (most exciting player on team) - could see 30+ goals - but 50 is probably out of reach, although I hope you're right.

My bold prediction - Jack Roslovic 25+ goals!

Once again, a lot depends on Bryan Little! Also, in this Covid life - are the Jets a cap team? Hard to do if no fans in seats!

Think he is talking more Pulock. But maybe Isles prospect(s) (Wahlstrom/Dobson) to the Bolts for Cirelli, and then Pulock and Cirelli to the Jets for Laine? Of course the Isles would have to throw in a Cizikas and/or Clutterbiuk for salary cap reasons.

Would think Barzal is a life-time Isle.
