From last blob:

Fine with both of them on the roster. We're not talking Vinny Lecavalier and the corpse of RJ Umberger here. JVR is still scoring 20+ goals per in limited minutes. G is still a 60-70+ pt player. We've had a lot worse problems in the past.

Why is Nate Thompson doing interviews? I find it odd, a UFA would be speaking on the future of the hockey club.

Better not be the foreshadowing of Fletcher signing him.

Maybe everyone was tired of hearing “we need to be better to win the puck battles” from the same guys looking at their shoes every year.

I would not have an issue if they brought Thompson back as a depth forward on a one year vet minimum deal.

The thing is he wont be a depth forward. He will dress for pretty much every game.

“There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind about his will to be successful and his will to help his teammates. I do agree that he is getting older. He’s got an opportunity right now since we’re in pause, the whole world is in pause, to take these next months and really work at his conditioning and probably find the time to slow time. He’s getting older. As you get older, the muscles don’t react as quick, but you can work on that. He’s going to put in a lot of time and effort. I do believe that there’s some areas that having gone through with Claude this first playoffs, I do believe there’s some areas where I could help him with where he could perform better.”

Again, I try not to read too much into these but is he suggesting Claude wasn’t in best shape for playoffs? Is he calling him out? Or is he simply giving an honest assessment with a veteran player who he wants to succeed?

not making an excuse for G but I do think he was distracted with family and COVID. He is not at an age where he could skip a couple months and quickly get back into peak shape. That is what makes me believe he will come back in peak shape and go for it, this next season will or could be his best shot at a cup. I also think they should separate G and Coots. Coots does some of that heavy lifting G had to do in the past, I don't want G back at center but I want him to be the driver of his line.

He was clearly a depth forward in the playoffs. Guy played every game and was on the ice of game 7 when they were trailing 3-0.

Yeah no thanks. Hit the bricks Nate

Without making a move to clear space, they don't have room to sign any of the UFA's besides Elliot and also sign all of the RFA's.

Agree about Covid and family. personally I don’t think giroux has conditioning issue. If I remember correctly, before the season started an article interviewing Giroux’s physical trainer released and was all about them upping his routine and how Giroux seemed even more focus than usual.
