Would be awesome but cost too much or not the right fit
Pietrangelo
Barrie
Krug
Brodie
Dadonov
Could be good but too much $$ for what they bring
Craig Smith
Granlund
Gudas
Dillon
Fast
Shattenkirk
Pearson (looks to be re-signed by VAN... boy did we give up on him too early)
Realistic but not worth pursuing IMHO
Haula
Tanev
Larsson
Gustafsson
Crazy risk/reward

There is straight up no point in investing in a 3RD. That 3RD is just going to be paired with Johnson and the pairing will suck regardless. Just throwing money down the Jack Johnson pit. - Victoro311
Very true. GMJR obviously has his eye on someone in FA.... just trying to think of who it could be. Not necessarily who it should be.

We went after him before landing on Zucker. That or he's talking about Pearson. |

Kind of but mostly I am just stupid. In my head Krug is playing for the Pens this year apparently. - MacPatty
For me too lol I keep thinking about Krug taking Schultz' spot on the roster and Joseph taking Jacko's. |

Anyone have access to the PG? Vensel put out a piece about 10 center possibilities. |

Krug is a lefty, top 4 D so he’d be taking either Dumo or Petterson’s spot. |

Barnaby has never once discussed the blue line with accurate sidedness for as long as I’ve been here. |

So basically two guys we don’t have enough assets to trade for and a whole lotta poop. Rutherfords really gonna have to pull something out of his ass here. |

Thanks. Remember I said recently Tierny is a JR move. He liked him a lot a couple of years ago and we know how he his when he fixates on a player.

I am quite alright with him taking the 2LD spot, with Marino. I am also alright with paying a 3LD 4M if it means JJ is out of our hair. |

The JR signing this year will be Tanev. I'm 100% confident in that. He did the family thing with the Staals in Carolina, it will happen again.
Recall him mentioning adding a 3 RD? I just hope they get him at a discount. |

Yeah, Dumo-Letang and Krug-Marino would be top notch. Everyone used to make comments about getting Geno a winger, how about getting him a D pair that can attack? |

My only hope that JJ is replaced is if POJ overtakes him. But if they don't get a RD, I fear they'll just move JJ to the right side.
Which means we're both thinking more of the effect on JJ than the actual merits of adding a RD. (I know you're not a fan of paying bottom pair D and I only want to go bargain hunting anyways.) |

I think something is going on with JJ because of the re-signing of Riikola taking into account how close POJ appears to be in making the jump. There is also the salary crunch. I think JJ gets traded with a sweetener and 50% retained. I think a rebuilding team would take him with a 3rd attached and 50% retained. Maybe a 2nd is needed. So be it.
You could be right about JJ moving to the right side if they strike out in FA and trades, but I think this last playoffs was proof positive (as if it was needed) that JJ cannot be in the lineup. It has become glaringly obvious even to the biggest JJ apologist, which JR seems to be (along with his ego). |

E Staal traded to Buffalo. interesting - jmy_1
Per Friedman: "It is a straight-up trade: Johansson for Staal."
Fuuuuuuuuuuuck! Come on, JR!
I really don't understand this trade for either side but BUF definitely came out ahead if it is just straight up. I have no idea what Guerin is thinking. I guess I understand it from BUF's side if they are looking to flip him, which they should (probably to the Pens for an overpayment). |

So the Sabers got Eric Staal for an underwhelming, oft-injured center/wing at a $4+ mil cap hit, and we got a fake draft pick plus had to retain for an underwhelming, oft-injured center/wing at a $4+ mil cap hit. MoJo is better than Bjugstad but I have to imagine we could have figured out something for Staal involving Bjugstad if we wanted to. Not that Staal is great solution to our 3C problem, but a tangible solution is better than $2 mil in cap space given how awful the UFA Pool is and how few valuable assets we have to acquire a 3C vía trade. |

Maybe Buffalo moves him again... For Murray.
. But yeah, Bjugs + for Staal would of been fine with me. |
