I wouldn’t want to receive a body check from Ryan Reaves. I bet NHL players feel the same. I bet it has an affect on the game. I bet not one penguin player on the current roster makes any other player ever think twice about anything on the ice.

I bet you make this exact same post about a thousand more times this season.

Totally random idea, but let's say the Pens had a chance to trade for Henrique. Would you guys give up Poulin or Legare. Henrique still has four years left at $5.825. Let's say...

TO ANA: McCann + Poulin
TO PIT: Adam Henrique

Something like this, but you can tweak the move.

- Rinosaur

I really like Henrique and he is one of the first guys I had on a wish list for a high end 3C. But I think that is too much to give up without salary going back.

At his cap hit you are likely only $2M per year away from getting Hall as a free agent. Give them JJ and send back Gud with that deal and I'll take it.

You know, I think that is true since Kunitz left. And yes, it certainly makes a difference, one of the reasons the Pens are an easy team to play against... you never have to look over your shoulder.

I'm not sure I'd use that Hall benchmark. It doesn't make much sense.

I do like the idea of swapping JJ and Gudbranson, but I think that would be unlikely at this point but maybe them getting Poulin would be enough.

Yeah, Soderberg should have been on that list. Heck, Koivu and Spezza are better options than Thornton.

Unless a guy like Huala or Soderberg signs on for a covid market discount, 3C will be best filled with a trade (if not McCann).

One guy I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned is Jeff Carter. Contract isn't great and he is slowing down but can fill the top PP and could create a huge matchup advantage with a couple decent wingers.

- MacPatty

Wonder if a contract like carters would be something that could be traded for a crap contract like jj? He’s had a massive drop off the last 2 years and although it’s only 1 year left I think it’s nearly double in price.

Carter has come out and said that if he gets traded he's gong to retire. Only owed 2 Million/year against his 5.8 million cap hit

It’s funny you say that about Burakovski. I always thought he was really good and really underutilized by the Caps. Yet by all accounts he had a slightly not as good year this year with the Avs than his mean at Washington. He just put up more points because he had the most average ice time of his career. For context: he only played 58 games this year and amassed the second most total ice time of his career. It’s funny how usage can really change people’s opinions of a player.

Buro is good. If we could get him for Murray somehow we’d be lucky, but I agree, we can’t just trade McCann and not bring back a center, even if Murray + McCann for Buro would be a good trade for us in a vacuum.

- Victoro311

The Caps were just so deep at the time. I think Buro is a fine player if someone is willing to give him minutes and surround him by talent.

Not even sure you’d have to throw in McCann, although maybe you’re trying to shed salary, I dunno.

Although I’m a Flyers fan, I live in DC now, so I’ve seen a lot of the guy, just as you have, Im sure.

Personally, I wouldn’t want him on your team. Think of that as an endorsement

It is a fundamental problem, perhaps the root problem of this team. It starts with coach Disney of course. I really think he’s killed the fun of the game and the hockey player spirit of this team. We all know Sid Geno and Letang like tough hockey, perhaps they just don’t like being the toughest 3 players on the team. Go Islanders.

I thought he said that a few years ago? Wonder if anything has changed... LA is going nowhere so the question is does he want to pack it in and spend the balance of his career on the beach and be forgotten?

Or does he want to move to a team with a really good core, where he fits in a huge area of need and take a run at a cup or two?

I'd have the Achilles conversation with Carter... stay in LA and you will have a happy life and fade off into the sunset... your family will love you but no one will remember you were here. Go to the Penguins you will acheive great victories and your name will echo throughout history...

Or something like that. If he doesn't want to go to a contender you don't want him anyways.

You think they would do Burakovsky for Murray? I think you might be overestimating Murray's value. Jake Allen, who is arguably better than Murray, just went for a 3rd (87 overall). Meanwhile, Burakovsky just had 45 pts in 58 games and 17 points in 15 playoff games (7G 10A) as a 25 year old RFA. If Kap is worth a mid 1st (big if, I know), then this guy definitely is.

Your newly beloved Islanders team, who play the right way, are down 3-1 to a speed a finesse team...

I wouldn’t classify the Lightning as a speed and finesse team. Yes, there is a lot of that on the team, but they’ve managed to add players who bring the right amount of grit and sandpaper.
