Do you actually watch any hockey outside of Leafs?
Dallas success is based on a terrific defense, and on 4 good forward lines, with guys that all contribute and can all play against toplines of opposing teams.
Leafs D is mediocre, Dubas underestimated for over a year the value of a good goalie tandem, and he's bet on very mediocre FWs (Kerfoot, Johnsson, Nylander) that aren't coming through in playoffs.
The Johnsson contract is worse than Marleau's deal by Lou - Johnsson is a 3rd/4th line guy, while Marleau actually played well his first seasons. - MaximusAurelius
Each year we talk about following the Stanley Cup finalists/winners blueprint. I don't buy that bs for a second. Last year they were a one line team with little to no secondary scoring.
Carolina took our first rounder this year just so we could offload Marleau's contract, they then bought out Marleau.
Johnsson is young, cost controlled and can play up and down the top 3 lines (but is best suited as a 3rd liner). How exactly is that worse than Marleau?
oh and Hallander isn't a 'top end' talent.
he might pan out, or he might not even make it to NHL.
saying it's a 'great deal' (or even "pittsburgh got fleeced!") is such a Dubas-fanboy statement.. - MaximusAurelius
most non leaf fans were surprised the Leafs got so much for Kap, a lot of the talk I saw people didnt think they should get the 15th pick alone.
again, lots and lots of non leaf fans. Getting another decent prospect on top is very good imo
I don’t think it’s what teams are looking for now, 2-3 years ago sure. - Arctic_AARDVARK
We’d get a good haul for Nylander. I think you’re wrong there. I’m not his biggest fan but there’s lots of GM’s that would get “tractor beamed” by his beauty.
Seguin’s comments last night were refreshing. The majority of players don’t give a (frank) about analytics. It’s an dying fad. - DrunkenCanuck
the whole thing didnt make sense, its a dumb question to ask in a (frank)ed up season. the reg season was 6 months ago..what happened then shouldnt be equated to now.
the answer was pretty dumb also....his team did something that hasnt happened in 50 years...and that proves something wrong
imo..you want your team to score more goals than you give up

It’s really hard to say.. I’m surprised what they got for Kap.

Johnsson makes about $2.5M per year in real dollars (not cap hit) for his remaining 3 years.
Anyone who suggests this is an untradeable contract is drinking too much blue Haterade.

You can't be serious. Marleau was 40 this year and was due to earn 6.25. Jonsson can be moved tomorrow. He's young and makes a lot less than his cap hit.

I agree, Leafs should and would get a something big fot Nylander. (frank) Pesce, Nylander, Johnsson and a third for the 6th pick, Manson and Maxime Comtois. Take Askarov with the 6th pick.

Who said "top end"?
People who HATE the Leafs think Dubas made a fantastic trade.
