There is no better replacement for a better price.
Kuemper has been sheltered behind a defensive team and he's never played multiple full seasons as a starter. Kuemper has played 55+ games ONCE in his career. Andersen has stood on his head every season for 50-65+ games every year since he got here. It'd be an astronomically stupid move to replace Andersen with a back-up and expect different results.
Fix the defense, the goalie is good enough. - JohnFergusonJr
They need Andersen's cap space (some of it) to fix the D.
I wouldn't replace him with a guy making similar money but if their was a guy out their similar to Andersen who came with a lower cap hit then it's a worthwhile investment if it means more $$$ can be allocated to the glaring holes on D. |

I don't know if you know this but a season has 82 games so if your plan is to play Campbell 30 games and Kuemper 30 games, you're going to need to find a 3rd goalie to play the last 22 games. - JohnFergusonJr
Kuemper can play more. Campbell can play more as well. They are not going to use that same strategy of 1 guy playin 65 games and barely playing the backup anymore.

It's not Andersen's fault they got shutout twice. You know that high powered unstoppable offense that will win a Cup by itself you keep bragging about? - JohnFergusonJr
Again, my main reasoning for wanting Andersen gone are contractual. |

I’ve never been to a real soccer game. I’d like to go sometime.
I watched the Man City one a couple years ago, not sure who I like more now.. Probably Man City tbh.. |

Andersen defenders keep posting this, but it places him 3rd out of 3 goalies in that series.
He's being moved for contract reasons anyways. - RogerRoeper
It wasn't the overall numbers, it was the weak goals at critical times. It happens a lot.. We need to get someone that can make a key save when it is needed, the Atkinson goal in game 1 and the Foudy goal in game 5 should not have happened.
Andersen is a great goalie, we need someone that can make an important save at a key point of the game |

Most goalie do, we even scored some cheap ones in our series. We just didn’t score enough good ones. - Garnie
His have been consistent throughout all the series at critical times as well. Quite a few more then I would consider to be normal.
I dont hate Freddy, I just wouldnt mind an upgrade especially with a contract year coming up. |

I don't hate Andersen, I think he is a great goalie, but he struggles with consistency |

I think it's one or the other this year. I think you either get a goalie who could somehow out perform Andersen OR fix the D.
I think fixing the D is of larger importance. I can't see the Leafs bringing in Holtby or Crawford.

Admittedly, it was a bad line change, but how was that a 4 on 1? Foudy was behind the goal line |

Andersen at his best is a 918-919 goalie who will have 2+ long, brutal stretches of terrible goaltending. Forget about a big October...
He also struggles in the playoffs overall. And before you blame "Leafs D", he had the same numbers and same playoff stuggles with a much better D infront of him in Anaheim.
He's no star. |

With 3 wide open options out front.
Freddy had to anticipate him passing more than him shooting from that angle. |

And yet, it was still a stupid deal that does nothing for the Leafs in their bid to improve playoff performance.
Hallander won't be in the NHL full time for years, if ever at all.
Knowing Dubas, he's going to trade down to 30th again and have a collection of players that won't play in the NHL for another 3-5 years, just in time for Matthews to walk as a UFA. - JohnFergusonJr
woulds never have guessed you would have a negative debbie downer view.
I liked the deal before, but after reading this...i (frank)ing love the deal |

I think it's fair to say that the Leafs outplayed the Blue Jackets in the play-in round, but they didn't lose because Andersen was the 3rd best goalie in the series.
They lost because Korpisalo and Merzlikins played way above expectations and Andersen didn't..
We all know CBJ is not an offensive team, I expected Freddy to put up good numbers, did not expect the weak goals at important points in the game.

They've tried that method before and it doesn't work. They need to quit with the band-aid solutions and get a legit top pair RHD to play with Rielly and stop with this Ceci / Barrie non-sense year after year. - JohnFergusonJr
Issue with Ceci is that he wasn't a top pairing guy and was better playing bottom pairing. Then leafs made him a top pairing guy. Barrie I don't know what happened but a lot of people were surprised he didn't workout here.
No one is saying go get 3rd pairing guys and throw them on the 1st line. There are guys in free agency that average over 20 minutes a night and are capable guys. 2 of those is better than 1 Pietrangelo who could get hurt and leave us hurting on the right side. |

Nope, that’s horrific. Looks like one of the 100 or so fires was started by a meth dealer. Some other looney started a bunch by the side of the road but they were put out.
Record drought, wind and heat make any fire, no matter how started that much worse but that involves science. - Canada Cup
Bullpoop the majority of the fires started in Oregon were started by Arsonists.
I can start posting their mugshots but you can look it up your self.

Not a bad take.
Leafs (Dubas) tried patching holes with duct tape, it didn’t work out so well. Sometimes talent is obvious, but I think beyond that Dubas has a really hard time judging who’s capable of what.
