Ya, I guess that is the difference.

His contract isn’t an issue, at all.

Maybe if they didn’t blow their load on nylander (and marner and tavares to a lesser extent) they’d have better defence to play in front of Freddy.

If I am not mistaken, it was about how Nylander's first 3 years in the league where better than Mackinnon's in terms of point production.. No one can, or will say that now.. Mackinnon is the 2nd best player in the league.

Nylander, Johnsson and Kerfoot make 14+ million combined. Trade them.

The Leafs can afford to replace forwards to fix the defense.

They can not afford to trade a goalie who plays 60+ games and stands on his head routinely.

I'd take Markstrom if he comes in at the same caphit as Freddy. Maybe even give him a slight increase if we have to.

Leafs will lose Freddy in free agency. If they don't have a plan to address it before April, Leafs will be boned in 2021-2022.

Also, as much as the Leafs maybe don't give up high quality scoring chances constantly, the opposing team doesn't get punished for doing pirouettes in front of Andersen. That's the thing that needs to change, without taking away their ability to break out and move the puck.

Also, gotta give Kweefe a chance, he has half a season under his belt.
