There is no better replacement for a better price.
Kuemper has been sheltered behind a defensive team and he's never played multiple full seasons as a starter. Kuemper has played 55+ games ONCE in his career. Andersen has stood on his head every season for 50-65+ games every year since he got here. It'd be an astronomically stupid move to replace Andersen with a back-up and expect different results.
Fix the defense, the goalie is good enough. - JohnFergusonJr
If you fix the defense than Kuemper should be good enough. Or any other goalie, for that matter.
Andersen will not be looking for a anything less than 5M on his next contract - if you can sign a goalie for less than 5M, you do it as it gives you the ability to pump those savings into.... better D. |

to be fair, he didn't say in one season..
I'm sure if Petan played with Matthews for 4 seasons, he could get 60 points total over that 4 year stretch - PatC80

point is, in context...according to that...the dangerous chances were all pretty much the same for the 3 teams.

Guys that hate Freddy, honestly, do you even watch hockey - Zezel
I don't think anyone hates Freddy, it's more that if he has high value and can get assets for him, we should trade him. That also helps if we are able to acquire a goalie without having to give up any assets (sign as a free agent). |

BTW, this idea goalies have good numbers on good defensive teams and goalies on poor defensive teams is nonsense. You can be on a horrific defensive team and still have very strong numbers. Robin Lehner has been on both the past 2 years and posted great numbers. Hellbuyck will win the Vezina behind that tire-fire of a D. |

I don't think they should have ever been in the same conversation.
Comparing what nylander did at 20 vs. Mack at 18/19 is an apples vs. oranges comparison to me. - Tumbleweed
I do scream when I hear people say Mackinnon took a massive discount to help out the team. The Toronto media even claimed that and Mackinnon did too last year. It's (frank)ing garbage. He was a 60 point forward with a much lower cap. |

Yeah, under the current cap an equivalent contract would be a little over $7 million per year, for a guy like, say, Bo Horvat.
Which honestly seems perfectly fair. |

People do haht with Marchand and Bergeron too. They need to look at the big picture of when they signed and their stats. |

Robin Lehner left and sported a .920% with a horrific D infront of him in Chicago.
But poor Freddy in Toronto! It's all the Ds fault! |
