For anyone thinking of replacing Andersen with Lehner, you're insane.
Also, Leafs should have signed Corey Perry,
Also, Tampa Bay is going to wreck the Stars. - JohnFergusonJr
yes

1000% the type of player the Leafs need more of. At 1 million a year, who cares what he does in the regular season because he's an animal in the playoffs. That's the big difference between a soft stiff like Spezza and Perry. One guy use to be a winner and when the time is right, he's there to do it again. - JohnFergusonJr

He is shot but that's why he's a 1 million dollar player and not an MVP anymore. But if I had to choose between Perry or Malgin on the 4th line for 1 million dollars, it's a no-brainer; Perry, every single time. Even over Spezza (never won anything in the NHL) you take Perry. |

1.5M + 1.75M in performance bonuses - Steven_Seagull
Half of those bonuses are for playoff performance and he's earned it.
Would rather have Perry at full bonus amount than Spezza, Kerfoot or Johnsson.
Worth it.

I was sure Spezza would be worse than he actually was. And those 2 players was possibly the 2 slowest guys in the league in the 18/19 season. But yeah, you're right - Perry was absolutely worth his deal. |

No Dermott? - gergeswillems
Get rid of Holl and put Dermott on the rightside.
Bottom pairing and 7th D can switch between Liljegren, Sandin, and Lehtonen. |

Holl isn't that bad and certainly not as bad as Dermott on his off-side.
Also, three physically weak / immature rookies as the bottom pairing is just asking for a 1st round elimination at the hands of Boston, giving them a soft easy target to expose for easy goals. |

Dallas signing Perry reminded me why Holland signed Dallas Drake back in 2007. It was for the 2008 playoffs. Nill (former Wings assistant GM) knew what Perry could bring when it counted the most. |

Holl > Dermott
They both had similar stats despite one being sheltered on the 3rd pair. Dermott had a 79% O-zone start in the playoffs and was on the ice for just 1 less 5v5 goal than Holl. Dermott isn’t that good, man. |

Dermott is younger and cheaper but he's not better than Holl on the right side.
With so many other prospects, Dermott is expendable.

It's not about him being good, it's about him being better than Holl. Which he is. The Leafs are better off keeping the better and younger and most likely cheaper player.
If they can improve upon Dermott, then do it. But first things first, and that's Holl being gone before him. |

yes you're the only one who had predicted that..
(Wedgie's 19/20 prediction thread is full of people that predicted Dallas as finalists from the West (Colorado, Nashville and Vegas other favorites) -- in East Tampa and Toronto were the clear favorites of these HockeyBuzz 'experts' ) |
