Liked him when he was with the Canes.

He’s a better fit then Babcock or Gallant

If Lavy continues his trend, we'll see 2 really good years of a Capitals team then 3 years of under-performance, followed by his firing.

Laviolette knows the Nashville system very well. Maybe he encourages an Ovechkin trade to Nashville to get back 2 or 3 pieces that he likes. Then Nashville could add Malkin as Ek reported yesterday. Finally the two Russians can play together. Although Malkin would soon grow frustrated about not being a man.

Currently two years is all they have.

Best of the choices they were looking at, no doubt.

Probably the best fit for where the team is now.

Now onto whether it’s worth it to try and keep Holtby or hope that you can ride one of the young bucks to a SCF before #8 and #19 retire.

Ovechkin won’t wear an NHL uniform other than Washington. If I was Leonsis I would never let that happen.

I don't mind this at all. Not sure if he'll have the offensive style that the Caps are built for but it beats Babs

Gallant would have been my #1 choice

That's why this is probably an E3.5 or E4, not an E5. But inches might be moving.

Cody Ceci was the consolation prize.

Do you think that Malkin at least gets Ace status on the preds? If Ovi is also Ace, then does suit come into play? Who's Ace of Spades and if not Malkin, will Hearts be enough?

If Malkin plays with a Russian star, he might start to reminesce about the Red Army system and how important it is to be called an Ace. These are feelings that Malkin has suppressed. But playing with Ovechkin might bring them to the surface. I would be concerned if I was Nashville. At the very least they should hire a Red Army sports psychologist to work through the Ace issues.
