Idk why you guys expect me to fold..

Everything I’ve ever said about Nylander has turned out to be true.

... In your opinion.

Because Marner has a way higher ceiling. It is absolutely is giving up on him.

Nylander + Johnsson / Kerfoot gives them the same cap space and enough trade value to get the job done.

Don't trade the best players with the highest ceilings. Trade the 4th best forward instead.

- JohnFergusonJr

You just traded 3 NHL players, they have to be replaced with cap hits.
And has Nylander hit his ceiling?

Johnsson and Kerfoot are easily replaceable. Johnsson came from the AHL and there's no reason why a guy like Engvall or Mikheyev can't replace him. Kerfoot is poop so anybody can replace him.

If the Leafs get a D like Doughty or Pietrangelo, they could easily score 10 goals and 50 points which doesn't cover 100% of Nylander's offense but enough to make it worth it.

Not to mention the added points from Matthews and Marner as they reach their prime years.

Nylander's ceiling isn't as high as Marner and it never will be. End of story.

Trading Marner to have better team and a more rounded team should be on the table. End of story.

Nope, not necessary. Nylander+ is good enough.

He's an embarrassment - the only reason he is still on the team is Atkins and Shapiro don't want to own up to trading two good pitchers for this sack of sh!t.
- winsix

Fisher sucks ..but "good pitchers" is a stretch. Sanchez has barely played since the trade, has once again suffered a lengthy career threatening injury and is unsigned. Biagini is a dogs breakfast.

Should have brought him back on the cheap. He's exactly what the Leafs are missing on the bottom pairing. He smashes everybody and just plays simple hockey. Perfect bottom pairing RHD.

Just as long as Tampa wins. The sooner this series ends, the sooner the playoffs end, and the off-season begins.

Jonsson has minimal trade value. Kerplunk is poop and has a poop contract. He's worth a bag of poop.

I love the guy but I can't validate the money, with or without Nylander. It's a different variation of the same structure issues to me. 🤷‍♂️

If he can play 60 minutes a night I will shift to problem solved pay the man. Until then we still need two other pairings to touch the ice.

- joel878

Use him as a babysitter for Sandin.
Sandin/ Piet
Riley/Muzzin
Lhetonen/Holl
Liljegren

Even if it doesn't work and you end up with Riley/Piet, it's still better than last year.
The big advantage of getting a guy better than Riley, is it pushes EVERYBODY down a spot. That said, I'd be hesitant biting for anything more than $8 Mil, so probably just a pipe dream.
Doesn't have to be Piet...anyone better than Riley would do.

Second time in these playoffs that Denver will have come back from down 3-1. Crazy.

Johnsson at 3 million and 20 goals provides value to a team like Minnesota. There's plenty of teams that would give you picks and prospects for him and where the salary cap isn't an issue. Same with Kerfoot. They suck for us but they're still NHL players on most mediocre (or worse) teams.

Nylander is what gets you the D you need. Johnsson and Kerfoot just need to be dumped and replaced with cheaper players to clear the cap space you need to sign the D you bring in.

Ranatanen JFC 🤦🏻‍♂️

Leafs will never will with perimeter players like Willy. You can’t have that type of laziness on your team and expect to win on the playoffs.

Idc if he scores 40G in the regular season, it doesn’t mean poop.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Your bias against Willy is completely unsupported by the facts. Look at a map of where he scored his goals from this year. He is absolutely not a perimeter player. Far from it.
Maybe he was years past but not now. He is also not bad defensively by objective measures.

There's no D available that's worth Marner. Marner is a first overall pick calibre player.
