Last season Tavares was on pace for 34-44-78, which is pretty much exactly on par with his career average.

i think you got exactly what you paid for..

jesus (frank), you guys are insanely sensitive.

i asked a question, i wasn't being a Richard about it, i didn't say "leafs suck", "Tavares blows", "1967".....wasn't trolling at all. i asked a question, backed it up with numbers, and you guys start crying like little female doges with skinned knees.

If your hockey opinions are being derived solely from google searches about how many points a player put up in a particular season, don't be surprised when people who actually watch the games disagree with you.

Tavares needs to be back with Mitch; I didn't like splitting them up, and I think that fixes Mitch as much as it fixes JT.

Matthews doesn't need anyone to score and with Nylander, they have two shooting threats on that line, keeps the D guessing.

But no, I don't think JT is a problem, not for a while anyways. He's never been "fast", but he's more of an elite grinder that should still produce, much like Sid will always produce at a higher level.

don't apologize to these ass hats. they all know that king dubas (frank)ed up BAD when he signed Tavares and are too stupid to admit it. It's the contract that led to the cap hell this team is currently in, and it will be an albatross of a deal moving forward. Leafs have gotten worse every year since Dumbass took over, and they'll be worse next year than they were this year.

Someone needs to commission a study on online trolling.

- Why do people do it?

- Are they actually enjoying themselves?

- Why do they insist on excessive use of emoji's and caps?

So brodin at 6m per.
Doesnt look like players will be taking too much of a pay cut this off season as some expected, based off this.

Lebrun was saying that his contract is backloaded, the first two years are 4 and 5m per, maybe we see more contracts like this?
Dunno, we'll see.

Ya, I think you're right. The top guys are still going to get paid.

I was asking that same question last week - back loaded deals. Escrow is high the next two years so players will want to differ that loss.

Might take the big bonus advantage away from the Leafs a bit.

I don't understand why people want to move on from Nylander. if I was a leafs fan, the player I want to move on from is Tavares.

Nylander put up better production this past season (1 less point but 4 more goals) for close to half the price. Nylander is 24 and getting better, Tavares is 30 and has already peaked (and will likely start declining sooner rather than later).

Tavares still has value (although leafs would likely need to take some salary back to move him), but in 3-4 years, when he's almost 35 and not producing, and still making that much.....it will be IMPOSSIBLE to move him.

I suppose since he has a full NMC it's kind of a moot point, it will never happen....but for those people who female dog about what Nylander makes compared to what he provides......i'd be (frank)ing PISSED to have an 11 mil player only putting up 60pts

- sensarmy_11

On pace for 78pts, so a little less than the past 2 years for sure.
but still not the end of the world.
Hopefully he gets back to 80 plus pts
But thank you for your concern

Agreed.
Like I said a while ago, the low end guys will feel the pinch, top end players will still get their money.
Even middle of the pack guys may only see a slight pay increase or remain the same over a shorter term.

So with Brodin locked up (and Suter and Spurgeon already locked in) Dumba has to be on the move.

I know the analytics don't love him but is there any view that he'd be an option?

Dumba is mediocre and absolutely not what Leafs need, but you can count on Dubas going after him.

(Dumba + something for Nylander ; I'd rather keep Willie in that case)

Just read some analytics takes on him ...reads a bit like a Phaneuf. Mediocre defensively and doesn't create a lot offensively aside from his big shot.

To my eye, he is smallish, not great on the D side, fair on the Offensive side. Not what the Leafs need. JMO

Leafs need some old fashion Dmen. Stay at home, block some shots, make a good first pass out of their zone. Nothing special or fancy. Be great if the guy could fight.
