aka, use the Leafs to get the word out and try and push the $$ ^^^^^
nothing more than that

Unfortunately, this feels true to me.

I think Petro is staying put. If he needs to, he will accept the contract on the table from the Blues, but is trying to squeeze a little more out of it.

I could always be wrong, but it's just the feeling I'm getting reading all of the news on the subject.

and add Hossa's contract to the mix in a trade with the Leafs.
They'll have LTIR space to use

- dmnted

Or even a OEL/Kuemper package...

complicated but possible.

Kuemper fits well with the Leafs and his cap, I'd think Dubas would be all over him.

Thats all bs.

Insiders suggest TOR and VGK are favourites to land Petro.

Most teams are up against the cap.

What matters is the contracts on your team and how moveable they are.

Can you add Petro and subtract cap hits and be better?

Given the structure of the Leafs contracts I fully believe they can make room for a star d man.

based on what Mirtle said here, the leafs dont want to be in the LTIR business.

https://theathletic.com/1...trangelo-dermotts-future/

There is absolutely no benefit to the Leafs acquiring a long-term injured reserve contract. I know that runs counter to some of the conversations out there, but it’s true.

The thing about LTIR is it robs teams of the ability to accrue cap space during the season. The simplest way to explain that is that if you enter the year with let’s say $200,000 cap space, that unused money will grow over time, to the point it can more than quadruple by the trade deadline. Not being in LTIR is great for flexibility.

That ADHD thing was enough for me. I can scroll past his dumb(frank)ery with about 50/50 success most of the time... That one did me in.

UG is unbearable because he's arrogant and condescending at the same time. He's the only one that ever knows anything and his way is the only, you're stupid if you don't get that.

I'm positive both do it because their own lives are lacking kicks so hard this is it.

My idea is that you trade Robertson and Johnnson for a RD, but that team has to retain salary, making cap hits similar (or make the deal bigger so that we take back more actual $$ payments, but get cap relief).

Was originally going to make an absurd theoretical proposal with Ekblad, but it turns out he has a super-weird salary structure, including $4M in signing bonus that has already been paid this year:

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/aaron-ekblad

So I doubt Florida moves him.

- Atomic Wedgie

I like your thinking. Except the trade Robertson part.

I love that guy.

He totally doesn't just regurgitate anything and everything the player's agents feed to him.

Lebrun just wrote on Monday how his wife is from St Louis, her family lives there.. They just had their 4th kid, and that does not make leaving St Louis a slam dunk thing to do. In the same article Pietrangelo himself referred to Stamkos signing at the last minute to stay. The entire article was about there being more to free agency decisions than money.

So I'm not sure every insider is saying that...

Question for funsies, if the leafs signed Pietrangelo to 9 million x 5 to 7 years would you be okay if the leafa then traded Marner for picks/prospect/cheap fill in winger?
- Aaron_85

No.
Would hate to trade a young superstar for that return.

But.
Whatever leads to a stanley cup, trade everyone on the team i wouldn't care.

so far this year:

out:

kapanen
barrie
ceci
clifford

in:
robertson
lehtonen
sandin
rodriguez

re-sign dermott and mik and we'll have maybe a mill of cap space open.

we'll be younger, but not better this year.

- Tumbleweed

1st round exit is the best case scenario if they're going into the season with that many soft, small rookies.

He will be great because he must be great.

Also, it doesn't surprise me that a Commie would have faith in a KHL player.

I love him because he’s Finnish.

In December, 2019 Saana Marin from Finland’s Social Democratic Party became the world’s youngest head of state. Her centre-left government, consists of a coalition of five parties, ALL LED BY WOMEN UNDER THE AGE OF 35.

Before the Draft, it will be announced that the Blues have re-signed Pietrangelo, and that they’ve traded Parayko to the Leafs. S6.9

Right. They have triplets and a child under 1. AP would like to stay in st. Louis and I can see his wife saying for a million less per year why not stay?

LeBrun on TSN1050 says there is no question that Alex Pietrangelo has the Leafs on his radar but whether Toronto can clear enough space is another question. LeBrun suggests perhaps the Leafs should look at a trade to acquire a D, mentions Matt Dumba's name as a possible target.

Lol ok.

Yeah.

insiders have never been able to tell if a negotiation is going bad.

Want proof? Petro has said it himself. He said yesterday he is now preparing for change with how bad the talks have been going.

i havent heard any insider say these two are the favourites.
Only that these teams would be really interested and that he would be the missing piece.
Ive also heard them mention the pens as well.

Absolutely not one single solitary word of that are these guys saying he won't be signing in St Louis.
