Nobody wants a 24 year old 30 goal scorer, who is signed for 5 more years at less dollars than his cap hit.

With all due respect, that's ridiculous.

I have all the respect for the people on here with their own little claim to fame that is so far off from centre they can die on that hill being their own little unique hot take in the event it ever happens, but this one is ridiculous. I love that they stick with it even though pointing out the absurdity of that claim is the only thing that unites any other posters. I'm all about sticking to your guns.

But this one is absurd. Nylander is not waiver fodder, and the leafs are not having to retain salary to get rid of him. No team in this league 'gives up' on high drafted 24 year old players who have scored 30 in this league to that extent... Ever. Him not being traded is not evidence no one wants him, that's like suggesting no one wants Mikko Rantanen.

Kessel, Seguin... These highly talented kids that were moved by that point? It took a plethora of off ice issues to make the team want to move them, and even then teams were lining up...

Ranatanen JFC 🤦🏻‍♂️

Leafs will never will with perimeter players like Willy. You can’t have that type of laziness on your team and expect to win on the playoffs.

Idc if he scores 40G in the regular season, it doesn’t mean poop.

Lol..

I remember when I was the only one bumping Nylander trades, now it’s all the rage

Since I’m literally always right, I’m telling you’s, NO ONE WANTS NYLANDER. Especially on that contract. They will never get what the perceive to be fair value for him, they’ll have to retain half his salary or something.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Maybe it's you'se that are wrong.. Nylander can get you a top 4 D-man..

Can’t afford that to play on the 4th line
- Canada Cup

Agree, and Martin is not that good. Would rather get Perry if he can be had for that kind of money. He can play on the PP and the third line and teach the rest of the team how to cross-check.

This is also an absurdly tired argument, not only did Willie score a higher percentage of his goals from in front of the net... But he is one player. Teams don't win with one player, ask the Oilers.

We're talking about a league Phil (frank)ing Kessel won back to back cups in.

Next...

I agree that Nylander alone won't get you a top pairing guy unless we luck into a Johansen for Jones type deal, but I think Nylander can get you a Colton Parayko type.

I’ll defend AA on this one. He’s a bit better than the absolute worst.

Ironically enough I had read in the athletic that the blues would haggle over a Johnsson, Lillegren, 1st type deal for Parayko. Pushing to get Nylander back instead.

Buddy.. no one wants a $6.9mil one-dimensional softie.. take him off JT/AM’s wing and he’s brutal. Other teams know that now, Kyle couldn’t figure that out.

Parayko is a gamer. STL would demand our first and Nylander with half his salary retained, and I’d still probably do it.

Marincin and Gauthier will be back. It doesn't make sense, so it'll happen.
- Muskoka_Matt

I’ve been saying that and if the price is right I’d grab Jumbo Joe. Guy is still an elite passer.

It wouldn't cost that much to get Parayko. Well, maybe if Pietrangelo really does leave...

That's called your opinion, and it's not really shared by anyone from sports writer to hockeybuzz poster.

Even the prototypical hockeybuzz poster knows he has value.

Isles weren't even in a playoff spot, how did Lou get manager of the year?
- bobbyisno1

Right?! Added on that the moves he made weren't good. Traded a 1st for Pageau (insane) and immediately lost 7 or 8 straight games after getting him.

It's honestly laughable that he won it.

They lost 7 straight heading into the Trade Deadline.

Pretty sure the only reason Lou won was because the league is just trolling the Leafs..

Roger will be along shortly to tell you he is worth an early first in 2021 + a can't miss blue-chip prospect + a solid top 6 winger and a second round pick in 2022.
- habman75

Nylander would instantly be on Montreal's top line - what's your point? Besides Bergevin could have him converted into a center like they tried (failed) with Domi, tried (failed) with Drouin. Nylander scored more goals than any Hab. Only Tartar had more points than Nylander (by 2 points) on your team. If you want to talk about salary - lets talk about Alzner, he'll make nearly $5 million of cap hit the next two seasons to play for Laval.
