when is the last time we had a scorer in the top 10 of the league?
top 20?
top 30?
top 50?
in 17 years Timmins didn't draft one single guy who reached 70 pts in a season. not one. - fidopro
gotta admit I have a hard time understanding how come Timmins has been there for so long...

but let's stay positive. I'm sure MB will succeed and Habs will make the playoffs.
eventually.

Good evening, all.
Great read Karine. I'm one of the minority of your poll. I move for 8 years at 6M, NMC for 4 years, restricted NTC for last 4. Gallagher has pretty much given us every ounce of blood he has, and if he signs, will do so as long as he's able. Do the Maple Leaf tactic of making the majority of the money early in signing bonuses. He retires with us? Great, probably will give his all until he can't any more. He wants to move, his low salary in the last 4 years would be attractive to some teams, maybe we can give him a chance to win if it looks like it's not in the cards. We need him here no matter what, though, to mentor Cole Caufield. Cole has more skill hands down, but Gallagher can teach him how to play by using his size (or lack thereof) in the NHL.
Just my thoughts. |

I may be biased since he's probably my favorite hab, but I agree with you... it wouldn't be my initial offer, but if the guy wants 8 years, give it to him, he deserves it

Diff is Habs have a manageable cap to make changes, Leafs are very much handcuffed. |

Thank you
Thing is, there’s no way he’ll be good come year number 7 or 8 but as I say, he’s the heart and soul of the team so I think they NEED to sign him. I’m pretty sure Bergevin sees it this way as well from the way he spoke tonight. You won’t see me want to kill MB if he gives him 8 years but it would probably be better for the team to be able to keep it to 6. |

I mean in a near future, it's not like the cupboard was completely empty and they were lightyears away of having a decent team

unless Gallagher asks for something stupid like 10M per, there's really nothing MB could say. pay the man, he deserved it, and deserved it again.
