when you say "he's no Markov", you mean Markov was more important to the team than Gallagher is? - Pat1993
No I mean Markov was older and had been injured but was smarter and played a style of hockey that would allow him to be a contributor and yet gone. Gallagher at the same age will be looking at a wheelchair at his rate. |

Markov was a miracle...to blow out a knee twice and still be as efficient as he was, that was magic. |

It takes time to get into the flow here. Yeah, we're not always on topic... But when you troll in every instance where we're not, you're not going to be well recieved. Took me years to get into really chatting here. But a good bunch once you just let go. Just don't expect us all to love you from word 1. - Darksyde
I'm not here for love. Where I can, or want. I will contribute on Hockey stuff. Once it turns to life time contracts to be friends, you'll get chicken necks. But that goes against the grain of "we should be able to talk about whatever the **** we want". Pick your poison.
How you doing ? |

Nobody knows what the future holds for Gallagher. To guess he's going to wither and be useless just isn't reasonable. People said he couldn't play his game for more than a few years since he started... Proved them wrong, too. - Darksyde
So 8 years? Lock him down. For all the people you said he was washed up your good to double? I said 3-4 and then re evaluate...no different than Markov |

ahh, I see. in a sense I agree with what you're saying, but Gallagher's injuries so far haven't been career-threatening, at least not that I know of... sure he can get injured like any other player, but he can handle most of the bruises he gets from getting in corners and working hard...

the thing with the Gallagher contract is it might very well be the ceiling for forwards going forward. like Weber for dmen. |

every year...it compounds, especially with that style. If his career ended tomorrow we'd be wow great career shame it ended that way. I'm suggesting he has 3 maybe 4 years top end left. Sign him to 3-4 and then decide. If Markov didn't retire a Hab... |

let say they give Gallagher 7M per, pretty sure no other forwards could ask for more than that. not in a near future. maybe at the end of the contract, in 5-6 years, but not now.
you want Gallagher money? work as hard as he does. untli then you'll take 5M or 6M... but not more than him.
same way I don't see Petry getting more than Weber. |

it's not entirely impossible, but like I said I think he'll adjust and last more than that. you also have to consider that by then they won't be relying on him for top-line duties, if everything goes right...
also, do you really think he would consider signing a 3-year contract at this point in his career?

The thing is though, if you offer him that term, you may very well insult your leader and he may be like right then frank off. The style he played, he more or less gave his body to the Habs (better than science if you ask me) so they kind of owe it to him to give him the security of longer term. I know, he let Markov skate into the sunset but that was much later in Marky’s career, his money was made. |

they tuned Markov $ wise. I just don't agree that he should get 6-7 years. 5 max. |
