if the plan is the play Stutzle on the wing, then I agree with taking perfetti.

if the plan is to play Stutzle at center, then I think this pick is a missed opportunity to get the skilled RW that this team is sorely missing.

I wonder how tempted they will be to take Jack Quinn then or do whatever they can with their 3rd first rounder to trade up and get him

So Detroit traded down to #5? Or they got Rossi and Perfetti?

I think Quinn will go 11 or 12 range.....probably costs too much to move up that far (from 28-31).

I think if they move up, it will be to take the goalie if he's still there around 15 or so

No, my mistake, should have said Ottawa by the pick, not Detroit. Has been fixed. Detroit selected Rossi at four, Ottawa took Perfetti at five

Take (frank)ing Olczyk, too. I just don't agree with (m)any of that guys comments.

edit:
Not even sure if he was on the broadcast. Thank God I can select the Canadian broadcast through NHL.com.

Really don't like that combination of picks... neither Stutzle or Perfetti project for sure at C, and now you have three LW as your best forwards. Reminds me a lot of the Hossa/Alfredsson/Havlat days, when they overloaded at RW (spolier alert: it didn't end well). At least Drysdale/Sanderson would have made the blue line rock solid.

there are better options at RD in next years draft (where drysdale would likely be the 4th or 5th best dman).....i'd rather shore up the forwards now.

as for Perfetti, pretty sure he's projected as a center. he played center all throughout junior, and all the sites have him listed as a center. doubt he would be a winger in Ottawa (unless brown somehow takes 14 steps forward this year)

Personally I like the idea of picking up...
#3. Stutzle/Byfield
#5 Drysdale

However, rumors are the Ottawa is heavily looking into Dumba.

Meaning we could do...
#3. Stutzle/Byfield
#5 Rossi
While picking up Dumba

That would be pretty interesting.

When the only one reporting it is Eklund, it's likely 99.9% false........with him getting lucky 0.1% of the time

Didn't we establish that Detroit is taking Rossi at #4?

I think he means in the actual draft, where all signs are pointing towards the wings taking Perfetti......I think he said Detroit interviewed him 5 or 6 times already.

I agree, although even if it's been reported once, it's still all we have to go on.

I just think having multiple plans is the best way to go depending on who everyone else takes. We are actually kind of in a win win scenario with #3. basically we take whoever doesn't get picked at #2

I don't disagree about the D, but Perfetti is often listed as a C/LW, including by TSN. It's also frequently noted in prospect assessments that he regularly plays both centre and wing, including when he played so effectively with Lapierre at the Hlinka tournament. Factor in that the biggest knock on him just happens to be his skating, and it's far from clear that he will be able to handle the responsibilities of the C position at the NHL level.

It's maybe also telling that this pick is currently pulling a 65% rate of disagreement in the voting. To your earlier point, they could really use a high-end RW... I'm not sure I would have passed on Raymond.

Stutzle would be C and Perfetti Wing then. Perfetty is undersized, not a really good skater and soft.... not a C in NHL world
