You also need puck retrievers that can get the puck back after missed shots, deflected passes, etc. Hawks don't win too many of those battles.
- LAHawk

They don't win those battles BECAUSE they are stationary to much of the time. The guy already moving is gonna beat the stationary guy to the puck 8 out of 10 times

They don't win those battles because their strength and conditioning coach has them working out barefoot.

Seriously, tho. They need a change in approach, imo. Even their bigger guys get outmuscled.

OOPs. Nevermind. Misread it and thought the conversation was about board battles.

I hope not. Nothing specific was really mentioned as the return.

Physical players that can win board battles go to front of the net and creat havoc there.

Knowing bowman liking small players would not put it pass him. If it happens it won't most likely the return we want. Maybe cole Caulfield?

We can get Perlini back, that will take care of #5, unless you add talent to the requirement.

Unlikely. Montreal's 2 second round picks (47 & 48) are more likely.

Not being snarky here, just a question to address your post. How did the Canes view Darling when they signed him to the 4-year $16.6M contract? Was he supposed to be a win-now goalie or a stepping stone? Or something else?
- Theo Fox

I guess that's my point. The Hawks have no one under contract right now (OK, Delia). They need to sign someone who is at least competent at playing the position - which is why I think they push to sign Crow. Right now, I think he could be viewed as both a win-now goalie and a stepping stone. I guess that is why I asked the question. What does "win-now" mean?

Considering the other option was a failing Cam Ward and they went through about 15 goalies the previous year, I believe they were looking for a pure starter.

Saad's limited NTC kicks in sometime after the SCF and before the league year begins on October 7. Would be easier to move him now. Montreal does need forward help, but for one year remaining they're not going to offer a lot of assets IMO. Doubt if you get their 1st or a top prospect. Maybe a pick and a conditional pick if he extends with them.

speculation is my guess. some guy named Mitch Gallo. So, who knows how credible he is or isn't. Just saw it and figured to pass it along.

What is the usual cost at TDL? No reason to move him unless you get your ask. Its that simple.

NTC can easily be worked around on the last year of a contract. Happens all the time.
