What is the usual cost at TDL? No reason to move him unless you get your ask. Its that simple.

NTC can easily be worked around on the last year of a contract. Happens all the time.

- Elbows15

He'll have more value at the TDL. Teams in contention at the TDL going all in will pay more even for a rental.

How about a blockbuster, Drouin and Danault for Saad, De Haan/Maatta, Fortin, and a pick or another prospect? Note that I don’t want to get rid of Saad, just throwing it out there since rumors are being reported.

Habs want forwards. Don't think they'll send 2 forwards this way with only 1 established going back. Also do they need another D after just signing Edmundson?

Bergevin counters with Danault and 2 2nds for Saad and Strome. They net 1 forward, exchange players with a year left on current contracts and get a C back for Danault.

I guess that's my point. The Hawks have no one under contract right now (OK, Delia). They need to sign someone who is at least competent at playing the position - which is why I think they push to sign Crow. Right now, I think he could be viewed as both a win-now goalie and a stepping stone. I guess that is why I asked the question. What does "win-now" mean?

Considering the other option was a failing Cam Ward and they went through about 15 goalies the previous year, I believe they were looking for a pure starter.

We are not privy to Crawford's inner thoughts or emotions, but i feel that Crawford already knows he will accept Bowman's offer

Crawford simply must do what is best for him and his family. Make the most out of the situation at hand. He still is getting paid handsomely. How much more money does he need at this point? We all should be so fortunate to live off even one year at what he'll be paid. There is great difficulty to be enthusiastic should he finish a career on another team. Who knows though if he would rent out with his family present or not in another city. No he knows that he can sign here but the question is, how late can he sign before Bowman says, time is up. Have to be guessing now that Crawford only wants Bowman to assure that he [Crawford] is protected in The Expansion Draft. Which is asking a lot because his health is rather frail. My bet is Crawford signs not too much longer before his stay here is official

Other GMs are making moves and Stan keeps napping.
- DarthKane

Of course this will be the same Hawk team as last year, with an unemotional coach, just happy if they make it into round one of the playoffs and be eliminated.

Physical players that can win board battles go to front of the net and creat havoc there.

We can debate Colliton's system, in game strategy, personnel/line combination decisions, and whether he is getting the most out of the roster he is given. But here is my main concern. They are such an easy team to play against. No edge to their play. No energy. No physicality. Low compete level. Maybe playing without Shaw, Caggiula, Seabs most of the year was a big factor in that. But somehow Colliton has to motivate this team to put their big boy pants on and play harder for 60 minutes every game. If he cannot do that it is time to move on.

Gerard Gallant your table is ready. (Nah. Not going to happen)

Could have been a double penalty there - Toews also got the Lightning’s face with his stick.

Does the time off for Dallas before the Stanley Cup final help or hurt them in the first two games of the series? Has to be a toss up who wins. If three or more games go to OT, it is difficult to say one team is clearly better than the other. Unless as has happened in the playoffs one team is much ahead in shots against but is not necessarily the better team.

It is getting closer to the draft and free agency. Hoorah.

How so?

That the ref's called two penalties same time same team?

Penalties not both deserved

A good thing about this tournament - losing players etc. get to go home to their families after almost two months.

Elliotte Friedman in his 31 Thoughts (Sportsnet) reporting that the Hawks are amongst many teams inquiring about Coyotes goalie Darcy Kuemper.

Hjalmarsson also getting inquiries by many teams but only the Avs are confirmed as one of them.

Good power plays have good puck movement and good people movement. The Hawks need to work on continual motion. If you have 5 savvy high hockey IQ players with good hands with some coaching and practice they should be able to figure out how to score with the man advantage. Toew, Kane, Kubalik, Dach fit that classification. Dcat, Saad, not so much. Keith has some shooting issues, but other than that is ok. deHaan and Maata have some offensive skills. Carlsson & Boqvist show some potential.
- -Doh-

I don't disagree but it takes more because teams know how to block the lanes. We've had those same guys plus Hossa and Sharp for 10 years and the power play has always sucked. What we've never had is much net front presence.

You also need puck retrievers that can get the puck back after missed shots, deflected passes, etc. Hawks don't win too many of those battles.
- LAHawk

Agreed! With Sharp, Hossa and Bickell we were better at keeping the puck.

Yes, Regula played the bumper role quite effectively in London. Not sure if that's the role he can play in the pros unless he gets much stronger to take abuse from NHL players as opposed to teenagers.
- Theo Fox

When I read those porcelain doll comments on Dach, io thought about Regala too.

The bumper rotes in and out the area and has two quick stick loose biscuits.

Dach may his living as a player who swoops in and cleans up rebound with his stick in front, and I think that is simply how he will play the game.
But you need that bumper now too.

back to Darcy Kuemper:

So, ASrizaon is going in adiffiernt direction in net, signing someone else, that they are offering Kuemper around?

That is puzzling....they getting Pittsburgh's Murray?

I think a second rounder might get him, because there were too many choices out there to hike up the price.

I would get an offering now. and sign him long term for a slight bump and work from there...
