Unless the team knows something we don’t, they cannot count on Patrick being part of the team. I don’t like the idea of tying up cap dollars on a middle 6 FA center either.

I think the best bet might be to pencil in Frost with Laughton on his LW to take faceoffs. I’d give him as many O zone starts as possible too.

I don't think the Flyers get more than a second rounder back for Ghost in any trade but what do you think a fair return is?

Hi Bill, to me the question doesn't stand on who is 3Q. I think that is between Laughton and Giroux - who I still believe can be a really productive over the next 2-3years. But I would not expect him to be on Top line anymore. Kind of like we had with Primeau as C behind Roenick and Handzus. The depth was just unreal.
And that is what we shoot for here.
So the question stands for me, who is the new first line center? And I kind of hope it can be Frost (not counting on Patrick at the moment as I am fully with you on that front).
Frost in my view with good summer (autumn) after the last kick and message from this PO can make it, he has all the tools, and it is becoming a young legs game. He showed glimpses of his capabilities last season, he knows what are his gaps and he should be ready for it next season. He can succeed as Top 6 player in this league.

Deal deal deal. If some sucker offers a 2nd rounder it’s a no brainer

Frost??? Hasn’t done anything yet. Yeah let’s not try to put him on top line roll.

Couturier is still the first-line center and Hayes at C2. In terms of LW1, it's still Giroux unless someone else steps up.

Depends on the pick/prospect I guess. But doubt the oilers do this.

What makes you say that? How about 1 for 1 ghost for kassian?

Bill,

Do you think their could be some RFA's available as with the cap not moving some of these guys might be squeezed out from getting offers?

Granlund is a player that I've always liked, and therefore wouldn't mind the Flyers kicking the tires on him. But realistically, given the team's current cap situation, it ain't happening. Appears to be a pretty underwhelming UFA forward group this year, so even with the covid-cap I'm sure some team will overpay for a player like him. Although, he is coming off a sweet deal where he was overpaid relative to his production, so perhaps he takes less if likes his fit here. But I doubt that.
I always viewed him as a feisty, plus-skater that at least attempts to play with some creativity in the offensive zone. But the production just hasn't been there in recent seasons. And I have no idea how he'd fit in AV's system.

UFAs or RFAs? I do think a patient team could find some good UFA bargains if they are patient.

So basically same ol same ol. Only way to get top talent in next few seasons is trade. Hopefully not young guys. My sole focus the next few years will be watching hart development more closely if we gonna roll with same ol same ol.

Frost is not going to be ready to be a first line NHL Center next season. He's not even a guarantee to make the starting lineup out of camp.

I would like to see the following lines. I am assuming resignings.

Lindblom-Coots-Voracek
Farabee-Hayes-TK
G-NoPa-JVR
Raffl-Laughton-NAK

Balanced scoring and defensive responsibility.

Hopefully Frost will be ready to go at 3C. Would like to see G on his wing to help with draws and create offense with more favorable matchups.

Bill- I am assuming Patrick would have to clear waivers to get sent to Phantoms? If the AHL has a season in 20-21, I think him and Morin could benefit. My apologies for not knowing the contract status.

I'd tender him his Q.O. and see if he accepts.
