I get it and admit I was weak.

We can handle a mix of hockey, music, food, Zezel’s sex life and political discussion with just about anybody except those two and a few of the crazies that drop by occasionally. There are people , like Tumbleweed, that I disagree with vehemently but can talk to.

But yeah, I get sucked in with those guys and I end up pissed off because I’m scared poopless about what’s going on in the States.

Do you have any family down there. My Daughter lives down there with her Husband, an American feller.. And my amazing granddaughter...

Roger... this is not some sort of videogame of 'which team has the most contracts it can trade'.
This is about winning hockey games and the Stanley Cup.
all the rest, including # of goals scored, how great the team looks 'on paper' and other similar less relevant things shouldn't matter. it's about winning.
you can keep on repeating that Nylander is better than Marchand - but Bruins have consistently outperformed the Leafs over the last years.

We can hope, I still tend to think this is all posturing from Pietro's side, but if he actually makes it to UFA, then its possible.
- Archaic

Im detecting large hints of posturing as well. Who could blame him? His life is in St Louis, he's the captain of a successful team there. Wife is from there, her family there... Raising their own family there...

This is all well known knowledge, it's only common sense for the Blues to try to get him on a team friendly deal as a result... And him to posture to try and work that number up..

If I were him I'd be dumping sly comments about being frustrated and not saying no to all the Toronto speculation on the daily, because it's only going to wind that number up and result in a long term bigger money deal to play where he calls home now. 🤷‍♂️

Stop thinking you're going to be able to talk some sense into Kaptaan.

Who can't you trade on the Leafs? And Bruins players signed very high deals at the time they were signed. Did you know Marchand had worse numbers than Nylander?

My point is Leafs idea of a "Bad Contract" is Mitch Marner. Other teams have Ladd, Skinner, Bobrovsky ETC.

- RogerRoeper

Pastrnak signed for less than Nylander and he has been a top ten forward in the NHL for a couple of years - that's a good deal. I didn't say any of the Leafs couldn't be traded, and I believe Leafs do not have any really bad contracts, but the notion that Holl is a bargain at $2 million needs a little more evidence. Marner is slightly over paid in my view but I'm very happy he's a Leaf.

Windy last night and cold the past 2 days, compared to what we were getting. I was just curious.

Ya, fall setting in. Looking at 12-15c most of this coming weekend, the warm golfing weather slowly disappearing.

Here we go again..You have to judge players on what they are worth when they sign their deal.

I've always enjoyed cycling for getting around and commuting, but curious about MTB and CX racing.

I've heard CX is kind of a whatever age sport but is mid 30s too old to get into mountain biking?

Just for the record, Brad Marchand is a far better player than William Nylander will ever be. I love him. I would trade Nylander for him now if their ages were a little closer.

But Brad Marchand could not have gotten more on his contract at the time he signed it. Numbers matter in contract discussions. Same with someone like Mackinnon.

It may be a mistake for the Blues. Even at $8.5million Pietro brings the total for RHD to $21.5 Million and their forward group is old and not great. Pietro will surely insist on a NTC and if that happens, the only RHD with no trade restrictions will be Parayko. Unless Steen retires or volunteers to go to Robidas Island, that salary is a problem.

its a bit surprising to me the leafs are coming out so high in these team prospect rankings.

https://hockeyprospecting...nkings-1-to-10-sept-2020/

4. Toronto – It’s Good and It’s Not Talked About Enough

The pool is led by N. Robertson, Sandin and Hallander. Moderate star potential, mostly provided by the big three, with the 2nd most probable NHLers of any team. Some of those less talked about potential NHLers include: Kral, Hollowell, Mikheyev, Abruzzese, Hoefenmayer (AHL deal for now), Liljegren and Koster. The Leafs have graduated three stars to the NHL in the past six years (Nylander, Marner and Matthews) and have done well to keep the prospect cupboard relatively stocked while they build into a contender. The Leafs should be able to avoid a rebuild for a number of years.

i'm learning to stay away from that impulse to insult. a little patience and reading, and i can respect your arguments; even though we are polar opposites. i'll even admit i learned a couple things.

that's how things should be. not everyone should agree on everything.

And Nylander had 2 61 point seasons. His PPG was higher.

When Pastynak signed his deal it wasn't seen as a steal. It is now.

2 years ago Draisaitl was a terible deal...Now....

Last year Nylander's deal was seen as horrible..not so much now.

What if the Blues move Brayden Schenn or Tarasenko? It's not smart but they could for picks and prospects.
