By the way, I was thinking of doing a little Philly foodie post, stemming from the time we were chatting about best cheesesteaks before game 2 against the Habs.

The idea is - name your favorite hidden/secret places/dishes to eat in Philly that are affordable (average menu prices/dishes named must be less than $20 tops). Must be in Philly proper, not burbs or joisey.

Hidden/secret means that it can't be something like John's Roast Pork or DeNics. Known to all Philly people even though it might qualify as a hidden gem for out-of-towners.

Affordable: as above.

Some time in the next couple of weeks. Any interest, or you guys gonna get on my case for hijacking thread? I could wait till after SCF....

My suspicion then is this: They did not consider Philly to be a contending team when they made their decision. To be fair, this year was (ostensibly) a jump for us, which they did not foresee.

- PT21

So you're telling us that Panarin considered the NY Rangers a contending team? They weren't in the beginning of the year and they weren't when play resumed. You have ignored all the evidence. You ignored the simple fact that the Flyers signed a top free agent just this past season in Hayes. As someone who has repeatedly claimed to be educated and smarter than everyone else, how did you not come to the conclusion that the article you linked was complete drivel?

We have a divergence of opinion, ladies and gentlemen.

More to the point though, Tavares apparently talked with 6 teams. So the answer is somewhere in between.

- PT21

Another point escapes you. UFA's and their agents aren't going to just talk to one team once they reach free agency. Their going to use other teams offers as a bargaining chip to create a bidding war. Even when they have one team targeted as their top choice. Which everyone except for you, knew is was Toronto when it concerns Taveras.

Thing is, every player has preferences like this. So, you let your bidders compete to overcome such preferences if they want to badly enough. $ talks.

But they did not even talk to Philly $. Thats the part I find somewhat revealing.

- PT21

There is nothing revealing about that.

Hayes wasn't a UFA yet.

A lot of players live in Philly. With the money players make it’s going to be nice no matter what city they live in. Jersey? Really? If you were a rich young guy you’d rather live in Voorhees than Old City?
- Dkos

I’m pretty sure most of them do live in Jersey tho. As long as they practice/train over here it’s a lot easier to be in NJ.

2x3ish. If they can move a contract (ghost) before they sign him, I could see a longer deal for more AAV.

Yep, although even if they don’t move Ghost, I hope they can get an extra year. Maybe 3.85 for 3 years.

May be tight with the cap. Would love more years for him, though. I think the kid is going to be a legit 2 or 3 dman.

I’m really curious what the return for Ghost would be. On one hand we know the struggles. On the other, who else is shopping a pretty young puck moving d man?
