May be tight with the cap. Would love more years for him, though. I think the kid is going to be a legit 2 or 3 dman. - BenderRodriguez
Depends on what the others sign. Hägg and back-up, I cannot imagine Patrick will be more than 1M for 1 year.

2x3ish. If they can move a contract (ghost) before they sign him, I could see a longer deal for more AAV. - BenderRodriguez
A negotiation has to be a give and take. Myers is a rookie. If a team offers a player like Myers more term, it's to get a lower cap hit down the road.

Yup, and with him I would not mind that at all if he’s willing to go long on term. |

Sure. And in a perfect world they should have a little wiggle room against the cap. They have the space, but it's tight IMO. |

I’m really curious what the return for Ghost would be. On one hand we know the struggles. On the other, who else is shopping a pretty young puck moving d man? - hereticpride
jake gardiner is one. Subban is another possibly. Yes not young but puck moving.
Ghost just needs to be moved for the betterment of everyone if he isnt going to play. If he finds success elsewhere so be it.
What teams would even want him? Arizona only has a few guys under contract after this year. I myself think the oilers would. Winnipeg? Don't think the market is all that big. |

I agree. I just don't think he takes less then 3m AAV if you're going longer than 2 or 3 years. |

I think Patrick Laine, Max Domi and Jake DeBrusk would be great trade targets here. What you give up for them, I obviously don’t have an answer. Domi is a young up and coming center, which would be a nice replacement if Patrick cannot return (I think he will). Laine the obvious sniper with size we're missing. Jake DeBrusk is interesting because he’s exactly the gritty, tough, hard working middle six player we’re missing
Maybe it isn’t likely they take Ghost or JvR but I’m working those phones if I’m fletch. |

For sure there are teams looking for defenseman and his contract isn’t bad. Probably a hockey trade, a combination of draft pick swap, a couple prospects or a young player with potential who is off track and also needs a change of scenery.

Yes I do know how this works as I've explained to you. I guess because someone else chose to answer, Bill is now prevented from answering? You were out of line. Man up!

Prevented ? You need to take a timeout in a safe space . And what line would that be. |

I like Domi but consistency seems to be an issue with him.
I would love to add Laine to this lineup but it’s going to cost us far more than we’re willing to part with probably. Winnipeg needs defense and I don’t see us parting with anyone (sans Ghost, who is not going to get a Laine deal done) |

Minnesota has to be one of the dumbest teams in league. Johansen plays better at wing than center. Whenever played at center hasn’t worked out. And he makes more than staal. This trade make absolutely zero sense. Pretty sure staal wasn’t requesting to go to buffalo so why not just put it out there he’s available. Surely could’ve gotten better. Good for buffalo tho - SMS4016
They dont plan on using him a Center. MoJo is winger. Dumba is expected to bring in the C they want |

We have a divergence of opinion, ladies and gentlemen.
More to the point though, Tavares apparently talked with 6 teams. So the answer is somewhere in between. - PT21
No we don’t. If you quoted my whole statement you would have realized what I said. He was not going to sign with another team in the Metro out of respect for the Isles. He literally said that. In the end, it really came down to the Isles or the Leafs. |

Any interest in Athanasiou? TSN Reports:
Scoop: The Oilers are seeking to move Athanasiou before he is due a $3 million qualifying offer by Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. ET – a minimum price that Edmonton cannot afford to pay. Athanasiou is always intriguing because of both his speed and his 30-goal season, but he certainly didn’t produce for the Oilers in a limited 13-game showing (including a qualifying-series loss). Oilers GM Ken Holland is between a rock and a hard place on this one. Holland gave up two second-round picks for Athanasiou at the deadline. Now, teams are thinking he’ll let Athanasiou walk for nothing in the absence of a QO, limiting the return on a trade for his rights.
He could add some speed to our lineup |

I like him but the Flyers don’t have the cap space for him really. Also, is He playing on the third line? He doesn’t break the top 6 on this team. |

If they plan on using him as a winger it’s even worse. You don’t trade center for winger who’s paid more with less production. Bad trade for trades sake |
