only Rielly is better.
I'm sure your spreadsheets say otherwise though. - MaximusAurelius
Nick Leddy is terrible. The eye test and stats tell you that. Muzzin is far, far better and not even close. |

WTF
You mean this Nick Leddy? The defencemen who had the worst plus/minus in the league in 2018 before Trotz? Your nuts.

Is that Duchene handing him the title?

If the leafs moved Marner to sign AP I'd be okay with it - Aaron_85
Im honestly on the fence about that.
I guess it would depend on what we got back and what the picks turned into.
But moving a 23 year 90 plus player to make room for a 30 year top 2 D?
Dunno.
Honestly, I love JT. But I'd almost prefer:
Matthews
Kadri
Marner
Willie
Pietra
Plus our D
Than
Matthews
JT
Willie
Pietra
Plus our D
If we had to move marner to get Pietra.
But this is all hypothetical. |

Leddy would actually be a very good fit to this Leafs team.
Excellent skater, excellent puckhandler, and ok defending with his stick and good positioning - although not the defensive d-man Leafs are looking for.
It wouldn't surprise me if Leafs made a move for him - I'd welcome that very much.
I actually went to 2 Islanders games (vs NJ and Boston) while in NYC that season - that team was really really bad - in particular the goaltending tandem (Halak, Greiss) was horrible. Still, attending the games, the two players that stood out clearly from the rest of the team on an individual were 1. Barzal (by far the best); 2. Leddy. Tavares those two games was very meh. I watched some more games NYI last couple of season, and Leddy is a very good d-man. |

What about Eric the half a bee?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlrsqGal64w - Canada Cup
I know steve simmonds was trending for being a douche yesterday, but when Eric Staal got traded to Buffalo he also tweeted that the leafs must hate this trade cause even an older staal is a leaf killer.
Then a few hundred people pointed out that staal has 1pt in the past 4 games against the leafs.
Yes I know, my reply has nothing to do with your post...other than you have the name Eric in it. |

I find generally guys in the media often know less than fans do. They don't even check stats.
It's like Koshan 2 days ago stating beacuse of the Leafs cap, they can't sign Clifford. I think it's far more complex than that. He didn't mention the whole 2nd rounder thing. |

Toronto isn't perfect, but it annoys me when our media tries to portray the city as a festering crime hell hole.
Simmons really needs to ask Dubas this same question now.
That Masai incident with the sheriff would not happen in Toronto. |

Yes. Do you not get that TRotz system helps everyone look a little better defensively? He was a train wreck prior to Trotz getting there. |

Even without moving one of the kids, signing AP is risky going forward. The fact that he’s playing hardball with the Blues suggests he’s not likely to give the Leafs a huge home town discount.
Making it work at $9M or so this year is doable but if the cap stays where it is for a while, Leafs are in a world of hurt, especially if he starts to slow down before we see significant cap growth.

So you're implying he would be terrible again under Keefe because he's not as good of a coach?

I do not believe Keefe as as good as Trotz, no. Trotz is the best coach in the NHL. |

a few posts before, I was pointing out that in that disaster season, Leddy still stood out as one of the best NYI players.
He'd be a perfect fit to play with Muzzin actually - would be a great pairing I think. |

Eric the half a Staal? - Canada Cup
What a place to finish off your career...
13 players to sign with under 35 mill to do it.
Skinner still with 7 years remaining at 9 per. Holy smokes.
I will be anyone here $100 that he does not finish out his contract. |

its not so much about the coach, and more about the system they implement. I think in the Leafs system he would be much worse. |

Everyone knew that contract was a disaster. I know he scores 5 on 5 goals well, but not enough overall production.

Staal will retire before training camp(whenever that does happen) and Skinner will be traded when Dahlin needs a new contract. |
