just read billionairs were able to make many many more billions and recover from the initial covid effects. phew

at least all those essential front line workers who kept grocery stores going were able to get a few dollars more for a week. but had to stop that quicky..now the money flows back to the billionaires ..everything back to normal

Did someone mention Karl Marx? This article from the radical Time Magazine floored me. It talks about a transfer of $50 Trillion from the bottom 90% of US income earners to the top 1% since the mid 70s.

The argument is that from WW2 to the mid 70s, the share of economic growth stayed about the same. Things weren’t equal but they weren’t getting better or worse but everyone was gaining from that growth.

Since then, as a result of government policy, that split has skewed crazily towards the top. If the split had stayed the same, the “bottom” 90% would not have transferred that $50 Trillion to the top 1%.

The impacts on individual earners right now are staggering.

If you're argument is that billionaires are hiding money in offshore accounts and not paying tax at their appropriate tax rates - then I agree with you and we should be closing loopholes that allow those billionaires to do that.

These billionaires are paying far, far less than they would have in the 1960s. That's in part what is causing such large wealth discrepancies in society.

I blame this all on Reagan, who sold the lie of trickle-down economics. It's never worked, and it never will. It just slowly ruins society.

I wrote the post yesterday on this - but depending on their motives and reasoning, you should not write them off directly.
(Disclaimer - I think unnecessary, but you never know? - I am very much pro vaccines of course).
N.B. happy to have a talk on this on here - but there are a few issues with the 'frontrunner' vaccines that are being pushed by several developers and governments (us, Russia amongst others).

Have to just add one additional point though: taxes go to governments, not to the middle class and poorer people.
In most countries, the tax rates for general public have stayed roughly the same, while a lot of public services (healthcare, infrastructures, public transport, energy, education etc) were privatised. Less costs to gov't programs, but yet 0 tax breaks.
People can vote in New gov'ts, but there will always be a big problem with big bureaucracies (gov't employees staying in their positions independent of elected officials) blocking any changes.
