and wait a minute, you said "I think the thing with Edmondson is that it's a no full no trade clause" lol
- Pat1993

Well at one point, we talked about both.

But try to follow.

wouldn't be surprised if MB offers him a 1y contract.

If Danault or Domi are gone. I could see him fits a 3rd/4th Center. He’s big, he’s a leader, he’s Finnish and his bro played here as the MTL Captain for a long time

Eklund rumour about Mikko Koivu and Habs Hahahah.

So now let’s talk about who stays between Koivu, Domi and Danault

- MONSTERSofMETALZ

If they don't believe in having a rookie in Evans on the 4th center for 82 games, Koivu might be a target... veteran leadership / character guy who can win face offs, be defensively responsible, even chip in offence once and a while... like Malhothra or Thompson. Also, having someone the young centers can learn from.

Likely puts Evans on the 4th line wing.

Seems like a very MB thing to do and a CJ want to have.

Guy was first center over the last 15 years or so, could be an interesting option. Also a change of scenery for him although he’d play in the dark place where his big brother played all his life. So it’s either a good or a bad for him.

But I could see a try IF Danault is traded

I'd rather have Mikko Koivu than Dale Weise, Jordan Weal, Alex Belzile or any of the AHL guys we saw taking turns on this roster

I think Domi is gone.

Danault stays.

And they will get a new veteran 4th line center, regardless. There is zero chance CJ and MB want to trust a kid to do 4th line duty, while also potentially have some growing struggles with Suzuki and/or KK for parts of the season.

Whether that is Koivu (or someone else) is yet to be seen.

I'm torn on this, but if one of them goes, I hope this is the scenario that happens... I understand people who are claiming Domi should stay though, with his offensive potential on a team that's looking to score more goals

I could see Domi being traded.

But I do agree with what Drouin said, people seem to forget how awesome he was 2 years ago. If he can just come close to that level, he's part of the guys you want to have moving forward.

It's a tough call, but if the right offer is there for a trade... he'll be gone. Otherwise he'll be back.

What offensive potential? Domi had one year where he fluked his way to 28 goals but the dude is going to be 26 soon and, frankly, hasn't done much to show he's much more than a good 3rd line/mediocre 2nd line player.

yup, and when he's not in "bonehead mode" his grit and intensity is also something the habs need, can't have soff players all around

He's a good get-under-your-skin 2nd line player. I think you can rely on him to net 45-55 pts a season

I don't think Domi is a 70 points guy either.

But can he put up 50 points a year? I'd say probably yeah. Just need to be paid like a player with that kind of production.

therein lies the debate, whether it was a complete fluke, or he's gonna find his groove again and be the player the habs wanted him to be. his inconsistency is a concern, but I wouldn't mark him down as 3rd liner just yet

That would be quite the gamble.

I think he gets a 1-2 year contract around 4.5M
