I don't think Domi is a 70 points guy either.

But can he put up 50 points a year? I'd say probably yeah. Just need to be paid like a player with that kind of production.

Sure. that works.

Well he can always go to arbitration, which would make him leaving almost a certainty.

And I doubt arbitration would give him much more than 4.5-5M on a 1 year deal considering his last season.

If you sign Domi to a two year deal, there’s good chance he’s gone in 2 years. Either you gamble and bring him in the Core or you trade him now.

Domi is a gritty player that have offensive upside.

Danault is a two-way player that you can count on to play against the best enemy line.

Problem with Domi is he need a coach that trust him and CJ is not the man

I don't disagree with what you're saying.

But let's say they want to trade him, but can't find an offer that makes it worth their while.

You don't want to give him an untradable contract and integrate him into the core by default. But you don't want to trade him for peanuts either.

So.... you bridge him.... until his performances makes trading him easier or he convinces you to give him a long term contract.

So pretty much what they did with Subban before he won the norris and (frank)ed everything up.

I'd rather have Mikko Koivu than Dale Weise, Jordan Weal, Alex Belzile or any of the AHL guys we saw taking turns on this roster

Gotta appreciate Stinger's courage to openly give his support to Koivu over a bunch of has-been and ahlers.

That’s for sure lol. Well let’s see how this puzzle end up. Still 3 weeks before draft and UFA then probably another few weeks before season start (December?)

Fully expect the Habs to give Domi a qualifying offer and him filing for abitration as soon as possible.

Then they'll have until the hearing to make a choice.

Gonna be strange when commentators can't cut away to talk about 2 GMs walking the floor together or a GM just picks up the phone and they wonder who is on the other end.

I think it will be very anti-climatic.

I can see most big deals done either before or after the draft day, rather than potentially during the draft.

iirc, the nfl had cameras in the room with each GM during the draft. no audio, of course.

it would be cool if they did that because then they could see who all is on their phone and speculate about who is talking to who and about what player(s).
