I think Dermott is only moved, if they are able to bring in 2 new defensemen. Otherwise, he stays |

Who's more expendable? Dermott or Holl? |

I agree with the youth and relatively low cost, but if the Leafs do add 2 more defensemen, there may not be any room for him.. |

Who's more expendable? Dermott or Holl? - gergeswillems
I think it's Dermott, due to numbers.
On the left side, with Rielly, Muzzin, Sandin and Lehtonen there now, it may be hard to get him ice time... Unless, he can play the right side |

I hope Lehtonen can... To be fair, he hasn't played an NHL game yet.. It's too soon to judge |

Dubas may try to get Dermott signed to a bridge deal coming off his entry-level contract in the same salary range as Holl ($2 Million AAV), pushing off a decision of whether to pay him big money down the road.
- mikeinbuffalo
I am proposing that instead of a bridge deal, we instead offer Dermott an isthmus deal.
A bridge spans over the water.
An isthmus is a narrow piece of land connecting two larger areas across an expanse of water by which they are otherwise separated.
So by definition, an isthmus is lower than a bridge.

hmmm... Would the Jets take the 15th pick?
Kerfoot, Johnsson, Dermott and the #15 pick for Laine and Pionk |

Have a HOLLy, jolly isthmus
It's Dermott's best time of the year
I don't know where Dermott will go
But have a cup of Lehtonen cheer
Have a holly, jolly isthmus
And when Sandin walks down the street
Say HOLLo to Liljegren you know
And every defenseman you meet
Oh, ho Patrick Marleau
Retire why the hell won't he?
Kyle Dubas waits for you
Sign him again for me
Have a holly, jolly isthmus
And in case you didn't hear
Oh by golly have a holly jolly isthmus
This year |

This is the time to judge and PatC80, you’re the person to judge. They kind of need to make these decisions now.
Lehtonen has played two years professional in Sweden on the right side. I think you can use that to make decisions about who’s expendable but you might not want to count on him in a him pressure role on the right side. |

What if I don't want to judge him?
I know I like the signing, I know I like that he'll be a Leaf, and I know I like that he can play both the left and right side.. I don't know if he is ready to play top 4 minutes in the NHL just yet. |

The Challenger Deep is located in the western Pacific Ocean in the southern end of the Mariana Trench. It is the lowest point in the oceans and represents a good starting point in any negotiations.

I have multiple jars of spices. It’s the one thing I don’t specifically check when I’m shopping for a recipe. You can’t build a tasty defence if you don’t know how much cumin you have. |

I think IF they can land two rhd then really holl and dermott are both expendable. I think it depends on what is out there and they can do.
Landing even one top two/four rhd I think I would let Dermott go over Holl and run with the kids on third pairing with Marincrap as a press box cast off who never sees the ice. |
