There is a lot of chatter on Twitter right now suggesting TO is a favourite landing spot for him.

What we need is never really a reason why a player would decide to come here though. Lots of teams need a 1D.

Ok. Look at it from Pietrangelo's perspective, then. Why would he choose the Leafs?

1- They're a good team

2- He fills a hole in the current roster with signing here

3- The Leafs can give 90ish% of his contract in signing bonuses (which seems like he wants)

4- His wife gave birth to a newborn recently after giving birth to triplets a year or so ago and being close to family is something needed, and since they're leaving St. Louis, which is where his wife is from, means his family would be close here in Toronto

3rd most goals among D-men in last 4 seasons - CHECK
In 8 of the last 9 playoffs - CHECK

.......Zdeno Chara wasn't much younger than Pietrangelo is now when he left from Ottawa to Boston. I think it's the greatest free agent signing for any franchise, and it could be for the leafs.

I really doubt he just fell off a cliff after the 47 goal 88 point season.

Moving him out of net front on the PP cost him some points and was a mistake imo because he was deadly there.

Hmmm, I guess one would think having family...instead of nannies....to help with 4 little babies has to be a pretty big consideration. And, since he's not staying in St Louis, where else would he find that family help? Toronto.

For sure. Up until the news about the Blues and Pietrangelo agreeing that he'd test the market, it was one of the biggest reasons he'd stay in St. Louis.

And I completely agreed with it. Still think they might probably work something out and he stays, but I for sure think the Leafs gotta be at, or near, the top of the list if he does leave St. Louis.
