yeah, if it was up to me to sign him to a 7 year 9M per to the Rangers - I'd turn it down. Too big a possibility to have a 9M anchor out there his last few seasons imo.

Got two options really to improve the D. One of Pieterangelo or two quality D for roughly the same money. I like the idea of two guys, but not sure if we could land both before next season. Or at all. But we definitely have to make a serious move in that direction cause this defense has sucked like crap since '93.

Yeah, that’s the conundrum..

Imho, I think Rielly is the guy. As long as he can stay healthy, and has a good partner (not Holl/Ceci/Hainsey) I think he could be one of the best in the league. Pissing away 8-9mil only to have Mo outperform him would be less than ideal.

If there’s any kind of bidding war, forget it. Remember that we got JT because he left money on the table. The word was that he’s leaving St. Louis to test free agency, not necessarily to join the Leafs. They will generate some bidding.

Dubas really needs to be options ready. If he waits this out and other guys start to go and we’re looking at AP or Ceci and AP keeps moving the price up, we’re (frank)ed.
