Tampa also has the best group of dmen in the league.
- Tumbleweed

Give me Miro and Klingburg and 4 stiffs .. I'll take that all day.

The Isles gave Tampa all they could handle and Dallas is much better than Isles. I think once again Bolts go home empty.

With reports that the Blues and Alex Pietrangelo ended contract talks and the team told the defenseman to pursue free agency, Pietrangelo told The Athletic that he believes he’s headed to the market, but he has not ruled out a deal with the Blues. The Blues’ current offer is $7.7 million AAV, but Pietrangelo has been asked to accept the AAV without knowing the structure of the deal.

Not much better eating fish than a Walleye. Fishing was good this summer. Not a lot boats in the usual spots.
- spatso

Agree on both. We saw a massive decrease in boats this year as well up in the Lake of the Woods area. I feel bad for the Camps/Outfitters that are really struggling.

Huh? How are things Bobby, how is the restaurant?
- .HOHO.

We're doing okay, not as well as we were doing. The landlord lowered the rent and hydro is cheaper so we're still paying the bills.
We will know better when the patio closes and everybody is inside.

A lot of people prefer depth rather than getting more top end talent. I get their point.

I take Pietro everytime, but it does put us in a significant bind with the cap and hinders our ability to improve other areas.

- Leafs43

I don’t agree with getting 2 cheapies but I worry about long term. I think they can find the $s now to make it work.

If I had any confidence that the cap would start to go back up soonish I would definitely go for it.

I heard this same argument for Col. and Vegas.. and Stars got the better of both rather easily...

Stars snuffed out a very powerful Vegas offensive forecheck and I see the same happening to Tampa.

People are really underestimating how big and mobile the Stars D is.
And Benn has been an absolute beast... Dallas in 6.

- dozerD10

Really? I see them as the West coast Islanders this playoffs. Goaltending is why they're winning.

Benn is playing great though, I agree.

Sources say contract talks between the St Louis Blues and Blues captain, Alex Pietrangelo have broken off. The team has advised Pietrangelo to pursue unrestricted free agency.

Might be right but he max's out as a 7 yr deal so he'd be 36 when the last year of his deal begins (would turn 37 in that last year). That's not too bad.

His history of health and the style he plays would give me some hope that he could be elite for another 5 years.

If the Blues have 7.7 x 7 or 8 on the table then I have to think it'll take 9 or more from the Leafs to make him think about leaving home.

Happy I don't have to make the decision but gawd he's exactly what they need right now.

Does Pietrangelo at $8m for 7 years make any sense.

I don't think so. Unless it is possible to expose him during the expansion draft or ensure that he is open to being traded after a few years.

- spatso

I see you're are going full spatso again, remember when Matthews was going to be awful ? Good times

Never go full spatso

So hard not knowing when the cap moves and what he costs as % when he starts to slow and what else we can’t do in the meantime.

Ya, I gotta think they're just ok with moving on. They're still pretty deep on the blue line without him.

That's a lot of cap space to throw at a forward and they need some help up there.

Maybe they go after Hall? Or swing a deal for Willie?

They don't have much cap space. Only about 5-6M right now

Not hard to understand at all. Stillman is not a rich owner, Up front money when there are no gate receipts expected for some time is probably a no go. For teams like Montreal, Vancouver, Rangers and Leafs its not only easy, its a bargaining tool in this situation.

It's all the ancillary stuff that needs to be taken care of after you give him all his scratch...

What do Leafs do with Reilly ?? does he walk, when he comes up...

and more importantly.. AM in 5 yrs..

If they go with AP... someone big has to go.. Just no way you can have 5 guys eat 50 mil in a flat cap world...
