ok so its only been 23 years since the Leafs had a top RHD

And I kinda threw him out as a joke b/c Leaf fans quickly determined he sucked. We boo'd him right outta town whereupon he went on to help Detroit win 2 Cups.
I bet the last "real Leaf" elite top pairing RHD was Tim Horton. Wedgie and these older buggers would know better than me.
I've been watching hockey for 40 years and until Babcock showed up I had barely ever heard reference to the RH v LH debate.

He's a 3rd line centre. He plays 15 minutes a night of almost all OZS' and puts up 35-50 points. It's all he does...that and win face-offs. *Bolded as a 1st line C lol - AdamFrench
He is, and will always be, an Ikea coffee table.
Kinda, sorta okay in a pinch but god would ever like something nicer.

My point was that our typical 3C kills penalties and has 60% defensive zone starts -- so not bozak at all..

Bryan Berard would have gone on to do great things if he didn't suffer that horrific eye injury.
Yushkevich and Markov were solid

probably one of those things where people noticed a market inefficiency, its better to play proper D on each side...but its swung so far the other way now...teams can play a LHD and win a cup still. Vegas is mostly LH
Honestly I'd be guessing. I know there's a lot of interweb hate for his game. He's got one year left but agree with the response in the article ...Oilers don't do it for the simple fact that it ends up looking like Hall for Johnsson.
They probably just ride him out and let him walk if Johnsson is the best offer.
The Oilers need the help on the blue line as it is.

I'm just a wee bit too young to remember Horton as a Leaf.
Weirdly, I do remember when he died.
I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out the last good RD for the Leafs. I'm drawing a blank.

About a week before his injury, Pat Quinn called him "a work in progress."
I love the guy for coming back to hockey (it cost him a lot of money in insurance payout), but he was a bit of a trainwreck in his own end.

Berard was still developing though, he had a lot of potential.. It was too bad that it was cut short.. I do respect that he tried to come back to hockey, he just was never the same.
