I like Chris Tanev's game but no way I'd sign him if we still have Jacko on the roster....and honestly I wouldn't go above 3 years of contract.

See, personally I dont really care about dollar amounts for anyone if the on ice product is good and works more often than not. JJ greatly hinders that no matter what else is done though. In my mind I just cant see JR having a 8+ mill 3rd pair again in times like these. Ive been wrong before though...

It's is unimaginable that a GM could take a roster with Crosby, Malkin, and Letang, and then screw it up. He is wasting the competitive years those players have remaining.

So aside from possibly no fans, what will happen with the ahl? What happens to a team like Pitt that will be missing 4-5+ players at a single time. Can Poulin or Légaré go to Europe as I’d assume missing a year of hockey will be a hindrance on their development. Won’t somebody please think of the children.

Yohe did his mailbag today and when ask about JR's future with the Pens he basically said JR's job is safe and will likely never be shown the door. Yohe had conversations with Moorehouse about JR and Moorehouse thinks the world of him and told by many that Mario thinks he's the perfect GM for the Pens.

Other tidbits are he feels that JJ and JR have a close relationship/friendship and that's likely why he's not getting moved.

Ugh. Not that far fetched. In this case though he'd have a 4.175 mill cap hit 2nd pair and a potentially 6+ mill 3rd pair, to go along with the 11.35 mill 1st pair. Its all too much for the D, especially for what that corps would bring.

Wonder how that 21.53ish mill cap hit on the 6 starting D would compare to others teams' 6...

I think we all knew this so no big deal to me.

I guess what I need clarity on is "NHL ready player" in terms of what JR's ask is for Rust. Does that mean a player still on their ELC ready to play or does that simply mean roster player? This makes a significant difference it terms of what room JR has to work with.

If Jarry is going to make closer to $4M which is what Rossi reported as likely and the Pens re-sign at least ONE rfa forward, which they need to do, the only way this works financially is if the player coming back in a Rust trade is making less than $950K.

I put together the armchair GM. Disregard the team/return for Rust and Murray. I'm doing it simply for cap purposes.

Bringing in Tanev just destroys the Pens bottom six and I have him at $4M in this.

After doing my armchair the only way he can fit Tanev in at $5M is moving other another player in addition to Rust. With Tanev at $4M they only have room for B.Tanev, ZAR, Blue, McCann, Lafferty and Simon to fill the bottom-six.

He's going to have to blow this team up to get Tanev. The only way this works for JR without any further detriment to the lineup than moving Rust is signing Tanev to less than $4M which doesn't seem likely.

Safe to say Chris Tanev will be a Penguin. Book it.

Well the point of bringing in Tanev or any perceived upgrade to the 3rd pair RD is to back up JR's claim JJ just needs the right partner, so JJ ain't goin nowhere.

Dont know much about him. It looks like he a LHD... so that means I think Pettersson is being shopped. You cannot have Dumo/Pettersson/Johnson/Rikkola/Matheson on the left side. Something has to give.

The thing that caught my eye more was that he is signed for $4.875M until 2026 with a Modified No Trade Clause kicking in at the end of the 2022 season.
