For whatever reason, I'm told this trade hasn't gone through yet. Not sure if it has to do with the fact Hornqvist has a full no-trade clause or not.

Johnson will be gone. Bought out, traded attached to Murray or whatever.

I do. I know Matheson would be a Top 4 in Detroit. He's not a bad player. We needed something done to our D core. Shake things up. Horny was a $5M+ player playing 3rd line. No speed, no hands but VERY good in front of the net. Just too much $$$ spent on him.

We didn’t need anything done to our D Corp. we needed to replace an albatross on the 3rd pairing. Not add another albatross to the D Corp. That’s not a shake up. Hopefully Weekes is wrong.

Is Matheson better than Pettersson? Pettersson’s contract isn’t bad. IF this means Johnson is being moved soon, moving Pettersson to the 3rd pairing just solidifies the D corps so much more.

I’m told there’s a “glitch” with the FLA/PIT trade. It was definitely in progress. We will see if it gets worked out.

We didn’t need anything done to our D Corp. we needed to replace an albatross on the 3rd pairing. Not add another albatross to the D Corp. That’s not a shake up. Hopefully Weekes is wrong.

Sorry. I meant core. And I don’t considered 3rd pairing to be the d “core.” Those players are replaceable on a year to year basis. Top 6 lines and top 4 D is what I would defines is that core of a team.

Please let this be true and Hornqvist vetoes the trade. He might be overpaid for his role and about to fall off, but I'd rather keep him for net front if we're not clearing any salary and just getting another crappy, overpaid, bottom pair LH defenseman.
