San Jose Sharks - the whole ocean thing???? |

Seattle might well tempt me if they're nearly as well run as the Knights were. Given my lack of faith in Holland, it may not be long before I really try to follow another team for the first time ever. |

Law and order, in general, seems like the better answer. |

Canucks because they need a better rivalry than being the 3rd wheel on the battle of Alberta... |

I’m thinking it should be the least progressive city. Dallas? Arizona, as a State, could qualify, and they’re in-division, but Phoenix itself buffers that. Probably Dallas. Go Lightning! Oh, and if the Whalers still existed, that would be a lay-up. |

All the Pacific Ocean teams are rivals with each other... any others are artificially created. |

You can't force a rivalry. It'll occur on it's own.
Vancouver seems the most natural. They Seattle Metropolitans eliminated them on route to playing in the 1919 Stanley Cup finals. So they probably have some 100+ year old bad blood between them.
Seattle did play in the 1919 Cup finals against the Montreal Canadiens. Although several games were played Montreal eventually was unable to continue due to an outbreak of Spanish Flu. Several Montreal players were sick and it it even killing one of them (Joe Hall). Montreal offered to forfeit the Cup to Seattle but the offer was declined. Seattle's owners and coach thought the Cup should be earned on the ice.
Remarkably Sportsmanship.
Always remember the first American team to win the Stanley Cup is the Seattle Metropolitans. Great trivia to win drinks at the bar. Nobody get that right. |

I'd replace "Questionable" penalty with "Bad Penalty + Epic PK Failure".
Vancouver for sure....
I'd have thought Sharks as a possibility too with the rivalry the 49ers have had with the Seahawks. Seems a good bit of hate between the two teams. |

when the blue jays play in seattle jays fans pack the house in seattle and they have fun. some ppl in seattle don't like it.
lotta leafs fans in vancouver
but i think vancouver should clearly become the natural rival
closed borders and no fans at arenas ain't gonna help the rivalry creation though

Lets just hope their area doesn't burn down before they get to play their 1st game. |

Never know, but I think the destruction isn't in that particular area. |

Obviously it should come naturally but my first thoughts were:
1) Vancouver(geographic)
2) SJ (geographic). I assume 2nd closest nhl team
3) Vegas (Expansion rivalry to first cup)

No it's not. Vancouver is about 3 1/2 hours from Seattle. Calgary took me over 10 hours to drive. Flunk geography, did ya? |
