Sounds more likely than Gull's prediction.

Law had an intriguing idea of Willie for rights to AP plus Robert Thomas and picks/prospect

Very interesting.

I'm just wondering if the blues would want the cap space for Hoffman/Granlund/Hall

maybe just me, but this isnt like signing clarkson to come in and be a savior.
the team is good already (dont care if people dont think they are), the team is in place, players signed...all young...adding AP doesnt mean he has to some in and be the man...just be himself and help an already good team.

now is the time to go for it....what are we waiting for? the next rebuild?

Ahhh I've peaked your interest!

Although, I qualified it as my "hypothetical non-specific" example of what could happen.

No, we have to be able to ridicule you for proposing such an absurd idea.

I don't see the 8th year being a deal breaker.. Sign and trades don't happen in the NHL, why would Pietrangelo potentially hurt his new team by making them give up assets to get him...

Because it would help his potentially new team with a lower AVV.

I’m from a different timeline. I time-leaped here using a microwave, cell phone, and a banana. Dr. Pepper is the best. I am mad scientist, it’s so cool, sonuvafemale dog.

If it gets him the total amount of money he’s looking for without as high an AAV, assuming the cost isn’t too high.

Because he wants his 8th year.

I mean, why would Marner sign a contract that is significantly overvalued? (Which hurts the team) - It's because he wanted the fame/fortune of being the second highest paid winger in the league.

an 8th year would help the Leafs.

The Leafs are a team full of 20-25 year olds. They can afford to sign a star 30 year old because Matthews, Marner, Rielly, Nylander aren't declining any time soon.

I'd welcome a Petro to the Leafs. They could use a family man that can keep this team in check.

By how much really?

8x8.5 instead of 7x9?

$500k in cap savings shouldn't cost the Leafs a 1st or a 2nd rd pick

sure, if the 8th year is a deal breaker, it could help.. How much of a cap savings will it actually be?

Maybe a 6th rd pick, if not a 7th rounder
