trade is 1 for 1.. - PatC80
I suggested trading Holl for Pietrangelo's rights the other day.
It'd be even better if it was in a sign and trade. |

Frank it..
Leafs should offer sheet Barzal and then trade Rielly and Muzzin for picks. Who needs defense anyway.. Luke Scheen and Zach Bogosian are about to win the Cup. - PatC80
Come to think of it...Why even have a goalie? We played our best hockey against Columbus without a goalie in net - so let's just run with 6 forwards all game.
Moar offense. |

if we add in Barrie's rights, then the Blues are actually helping us |

an 8th year would help the Leafs.
The Leafs are a team full of 20-25 year olds. They can afford to sign a star 30 year old because Matthews, Marner, Rielly, Nylander aren't declining any time soon.
I'd welcome a Petro to the Leafs. They could use a family man that can keep this team in check. - Santo_44
Marleau had zero effect in that regard.

It's sad to see that some Leafs fans think Muzzin and Pietrangelo are elite NHL d-men going forward |

And what if Petro doesn't sign with the Leafs? We've just lost a serviceable RHD, who has a reasonable contract, for nothing.
It's picks or nothing. One would think a 3rd or 4th is reasonable. |

If the 8 year for AP came into play, I would think it would be more for the Leafs than AP.
If the Leafs were offering 7/$9.5, you just add the year for CAP relief not extra $.
7 x 9.5 = $66.5 ....66.5 / 8 = $8.4/year Cap Hit.
Why would AP do that, the Leafs give him all of the other terms he wants in the deal, later bonuses and NTC protection. Maybe he bites.
Why would Blues do that? Add Holl to the deal for a 3rd pairing RD and the other guys move up in the line up. Maybe they bite.
We save $2M on the cap for AP and losing Holl. Makes the deal a TINY bit easier for the Leafs.
IDK, not sure it makes sense any other way or for any other reason.
If it's for more money for AP, fu3k it. Add two UFA RDs and move on. |

Matheson turned the puck over 1 out of every 5 times he touched it at even strength. |
