Remember the sub-40 mil cap? Sounds like teams are spending more than they should towards the cap and being propped up by some of the bigger franchises. If you cant survive near the cap floor, you probably shouldn't have a team. |

The anti-trust exception should be removed from all sports leagues and they should be force to sell stock like any other company. |

Cancel the season - it's obvious. Covid isn't just about mortality rates - studies are finding that survivors end up with blood clots, memory loss, loss of smell, and other neurological issues. Cold hard truth is the season needs to be canceled. It doesn't make sense from any angle.

Expecting any day now to hear the rumor "Gary Bettman has reached out to Canadian Millionaire Jim Balsillie to tell him that he's sorry and to see if he still has a few Billion still sitting around so he can buy one of the financially strapped teams and relocate them to wherever he wants". |

Not one red cent should be given to the teams that are in trouble.
Sorry but taking taxpayer money to pay millionaire athletes and million/billionaire owners is ridiculous when lots of people are legitimately hurting because of this mess. |

Maybe if they stop testing so much that will help stop the spread and then we can all carry on. |

[Check that out - it links directly to academic medical journals/studies. When you start talking about blood clots - it's not "just a cold". This needs a safe vaccine, we've got a year to go on that, the re-openings were just to maintain civil order over summer. I could only imagine what they'll do over the coming winter. |

Not quite true. The rest of Canada has done well. Alberta not so much! Thank that a$$clown Kenny for screwing "his" province! - Canhockeyfan
The provinces of Ontario and Quebec account for around 80 percent of all coronavirus cases in Canada. Alberta accounts for 11%.

It's almost as if people who refuse to wear masks because it infringes on their freedom might actually be making things worse?! |

The big question is will the players be required to have their freedom stripped away and forced to wear masks? - iknowbest
I'm pretty sure they already make goalies wear masks. |

That's how it starts. What's next? Microchips inserted into every player? |

Should the NHL be trying to keep every team alive? Seems like an opportunity here to cut some deadwood. |

Is this top NHL source giving you insight into all the scenarios next season the same guy who told you about doubleheaders?
If not, when he gets back to you, can you ask him about doubleheaders? |

NHL needs to get rid of guranteed contracts. Move to NFL model where players get the bulk up front and can be cut anytime if they cant cut it. |

Not quite true. The rest of Canada has done well. Alberta not so much! Thank that a$$clown Kenny for screwing "his" province! - Canhockeyfan Anti-Alberta arrogant attitude you have, has been noted. It's not going to pay off for you, polls are already showing 30-40% support for Alberta separation - that will mean something to you, the moment eastern canada no longer takes $20 billion per year from Alberta. Albertans have the power to drastically reduce your quality of life and government services. Keep voting liberal, keep insulting Albertans - you're doing the heavy lifting bud, people like you are the greatest promoters of Alberta separation |

Are you surprised by it? trudeau's state broadcaster and other propaganda arms push the anti-Alberta tropes to further divide the country. Remember his deadbeat father hated the West and Alberta too. Same agenda.
The sheep gobble up all that lieberal propaganda. Don't fall for their tactics to divide the country, it's divide and conquer. |

Do some research there bud. Ontario has given far more money to the other provinces then Alberta has since they started distributing wealth among provinces. Quebec on the other hand is useless.

If Bettman figures out he can let a bunch of teams go under and then sell new franchise licenses this could get crazy....
But seriously, with the cap won't the players salaries be reduced when league revenue is reduced? I mean if the league income was literally cut in half wouldn't player salaries automatically adjust? |
