I wonder how much their fans complained all those years they sucked?

They didn’t have many and who cares? Paying customers have a right to voice their opinions.

Pretty impressive haul by Al Murray, TBL director of amateur scouting:
2009 - Hedman (1)
2011 - Kucherov (Rd 2); Palat (7)
2012 - Vasilevskiy (1); Paquette (4)
2013 - Drouin (1); trade Sergachev
2014 - Point (3)
2015 - Cirelli (3)
2019 - Nolan Foote (1); trade Coleman

————————————————————

Above is a tweet from Mike Morreale, staff writer for the NHL, no matter how you view it, that’s an impressive ten years of drafting. Tampa sucked in 2008 & 2009, thus they got the first overall in 08 and the second overall in 09. Stamkos and Hedman.

Canucks sucked in 2016 & 2017 which lead to two 5th overall picks, I’m hopeful that’s the start of our great run of drafting as Benning and company have had an impressive run, even with a few misses in there, that should make the Canucks a competitive team for a decade if they keep building on that. Hopefully it leads to a Stanley Cup!

2014 - Virtanen (1); Demko (2); Tryamkin (3)
2015 - Boeser (1); Gaudette (5)
2016 - Juolevi (1)

- Pacificgem[hopefully]
2017 - Pettersson (1); Rathbone (4)
2018 - Q. Hughes (1)

Hopefully the Canucks will be as lucky as Tampa.

Everyone has a right to voice their opinion even if they are not paying customers . It still does not change the ratio.

Why do you worry so much about people voicing displeasure, or complaining as you put it? The Canucks just had the worst five year run in terms of loses in their 50 year history, there’s reason to complain. However, it looks like they’re coming out of it...thankfully!

I actually don't care . I just find it very funny when I see quotes on here of "I don't give a flying fuk of how other GMs do , and then see three days of praising other GMs " .

the reference is I don’t care if other GM’s are bad, doesn’t mean it’s ok for our GM to be bad. But you can twist it any way you want. I want our General Manager to do good things, like the better GM’s, but stay away from the things that make the bad GM’s bad.

Is that too hard to grasp?

At the end of the day we all want the same thing, for the Vancouver Canucks to win a Stanley Cup. I just refuse to throw a blanket of sunshine over anything and everything the general manager does, he’s made mistakes and I think people voicing their displeasure has forced him to become a better GM.

So, what you're saying is that you & I are helping Benning to become a better GM.

Thomas Drance just published a good read on The Athletic about what the Canucks can learn from a very well run Tampa Bay Lightning franchise, if you get a chance, read it.

Did it mention pro scouting or cap management?

“Just as a means of illustration, the Lightning model, currently, allocates 14.7 percent of their cap space to their bottom-six and depth forward Mitchell Stephens (to flesh out their 23-man roster). With that allocation, the Lightning iced a bottom-six capable of outscoring their opponents.

This past season Vancouver allocated 24.8 percent of their cap space to the bottom-six forwards by contrast (their bottom-six by ice time, plus Zack MacEwen to flesh out their 23-man roster) and iced a bottom-six that was easily outscored at even-strength.”
