'deserve' to see their support systems??
you make this sound like they are some prisoners of war, held against their will and douing forced manual labor in bad circumstances for 15 hours a day.. - MaximusAurelius

M. Rielly, D: Forgive me, I'm a Leafs fan. I'm psychologically damaged. So I"m predicting a bit of a drop off from last year, where he was top 10 defencemen in the league. This prediction is based upon nothing but a horrible feeling in my gut, which may be nothing more than me staying up last night and drinking beer while watching football. But there you have it: he'll regress this year a little in both numbers and overall play. Gawd, I hate being a Leafs fan.
Nailed it. - Atomic Wedgie
Less nailing this and more backing into it really.
Healthy Rielly is still a top D-man. |

half of the NHL players don't have family/kids, so let's not suppose it was such a difficult time for these guys..
(there are thousands of regular working people that have to be 2+ months working remote locations before being able to see their wives and kids; NHL players were pampered in hotels and were actually able to concentrate on their jobs. For most of them it was (or at least should have been) a walk in the park). - MaximusAurelius
Those peoples jobs also aren't on public display where everything they do will be scrutinized by millions of people.
Different levels of pressure. |

I agree no asterisk, Tampa full value. Conn Smythe could have easily been Point instead of Hedman. I'm glad the Leafs have Snakevares instead of Stamkos. - winsix

For those of you looking to do an assessment of your predictions from the start of the year, here you go:
https://hockeybuzz.com/bo...read.php?thread_id=162083 - Atomic Wedgie
The biggest surprise will be: Mikheyev
I. Mikheyev, RW 8g/23p 17g/47p
- In a 82 games season it would've been 17g/48p
Nevermind the rest... |

All of the NHL players have families.
maybe half dont have kids.
Yes the bubble life was no prison, but still, the final two teams spent a long time away from their life and people they loved....not easy I would think. |

So what did we learn from TBay's win?
Minimum off-season shopping list.
1. Partner for Rielly that can eat minutes.
2. One or two depth forwards with experience that can blend some skill with some energy.
Bonus list.
1. Long term goaltending solution.
2. More depth on D.

just wanted to point out that 'easy' is relative.
and my main comment was actually in response to santo saying it was the toughest year to win a SC -- the break before playoffs made it less brutal imo. |

Agree with these but have to add a few bangers, Maroon is not a great player but he's there to lay hits and smash. Tampa and Dallas both had at least half a dozen players that are hard hitters.

I think we are 2-3 players away from being on par with dallas. including a good rhd man.
but tb was on another level. they imposed their will on dallas in game 6. just too much depth. no easy shifts/weak match-ups to take advantage of. |

Top 50 salaried players in the NHL for 2020 will be losing a total 100 million, just this year, to escrow. And will defer another 50 million. That's if things go well and they can play a full schedule in 20'.

mr mcgag would trade Cofield, Domi and 16th for Laine
the Leafs equivalent might be Robertson, Johnsson and 15th pick....'ish
Seem light for Laine
Grant McCagg
@grantmccagg
It would be folly to reject a trade for Laine because you wouldn't want to include Caufield. I trade CC, Domi and the 16th pick for Laine in a heartbeat. Pollock traded a future 50-goal scorer for a big scoring winger who was 33 years old in Mahovlich. Helped them win 2 Cups. |

he would say each part from Montreal is more valuable
CC > Robertson
Domi > AJ
16th > 15th |
