GMJR isn't the only game in town who makes bad deals, so I'm banking on that.
I could see him revisiting a deal with MIN to have Rask going back the other way. I don't want that, but I could see it. - Rinosaur
Oh for sure. I just think you get a more useful than JJ player in return that’s also a cap dump. |

It's like you expect all the worst deals possible haha JR doesn't help himself
Maybe we sign J.Fast or Ennis? I really see C.Tanev as a possibility. Never hated him but the $$$ and term on his deal would kill us. - Barnaby36
You really just don't pay attention to what goes on, do you?

What kind of package would you need for us to land Bertuzzi? A realistic one. |

Is he a true Top 6 forward, sniper? I see he's 25yo. What kind of raise he'll get now? |

Top 6 well rounded winger. Probably gets something in the realm of 5x5.
There are 393 forwards with at least 1000 mins toi at 5v5 over the last 3 seasons. This is how he ranks.
G/60: 100th. Tied with Hayes, Marchessault, Kopitar, and Grabner.
P/60: 78th. Tied with Burakovsky, Couture, M Tkachuk, and Getzlaf.

He really turned out best case scenario for you guys. Good player with a snarl. Usually it’s one or the other. |

He'd be someone I'd target to replace Sheary in the Top 6. Mantha probably would cost more but he'd be nice too. We have to work in our 2-3 year window. |

Mantha would cost more and unfortunately for you your gm has you in a position with no cap space or assets a rebuilding team would want. |

Was it necessary to have to get a shot in on the Islanders? A team that got to OT of game 6 in the conference finals against the eventual champs as opposed to losing to an awful Montreal team in a qualifying round? And I guess if you are gonna knock the Isles you should also knock the Stars, considering the Isles were regularly getting 25-30 shots per game against Tampa while Dallas in do or die game 6 had 9 shots with 7 minutes to go in the third period before a bit of a late flurry with Tampa sitting back. |

It was expected that a buyout was needed and Toronto was in a worse cap bind. Not comparables. - Feds91Stammer
I don't agree with this either. The Rangers are staring at around 15M in dead space if they buy out Lundqvist. Detroit just made it too easy on them taking a bad player for just a 2nd round pick. |

It will be hard for Poulin and Légaré at first sight: Lafferty, Angello, Miletic, Di Pauli, O'Conner, Bellerive, A.Johnson.. so many guys with AHL experience fighting for spots.
Anyone believe Aberg will be in camp as well? - Barnaby36
Johnson and DiPauli are FAs. Besides O'Connor none of those guys are going to block a top prospect. Half of them at least probably don't stick in the NHL. If Poulin or Legare are ready, they aren't getting blocked by our current depth forwards. |

JJ and Murray package potential returns imo:
DET: Nielsen
OTT: Zaitsev
EDM: Neal
Otherwise you’re adding or retaining on JJ. - Feds91Stammer
I think you could add Miller out of Buffalo to that list.
With Edmonton, if there was any way to do JJ and Murray for Kassian it would be great. |

A couple of us Pens fans appreciate what the Isles were able to do. I appreciate teams that play as a cohesive unit, stick to a system, and find a way to win any way possible (provided the refs call penalties for things like holding and interference). I would love to have Trotz as a coach - I think he can (and did) coach circles around Sullivan. I personally don't need end-to-end action and 4-3 or 5-4 games to be entertained. In fact, those games have a lot less drama and goals are cheapened. |

That would be ideal, but EDM would have to really like Murray for this to happen, which I highly doubt. I think they like Kassian so I doubt they are shopping him. |

Kass has been mentioned as possibly being on the trade block. I'd love to get him.
I also doubt JJ to edmonton would happen but let me dream. More realistically, I have been thinking about Murray and Simon for Kassian and a 3rd but Holland is a guy I could see making a JR level blunder. |

Ok, that's good to hear. Likewise would love to get him. I wouldn't even worry about getting a 3rd back and if they take JJ I would send them a 3rd in addition to Murray (and Simon if they want him). We'd then be a 3LW / 3C from having a really good bottom six that would be a PITA to play against:
?/McCann - ?/McCann - Kassian
Tanev - Blueger - Sceviour |

Any player could block a prospect if they get outplayed IMO. Business first before draft pedigree. I wouldn't be surprised to see Poulin getting outplayed by Miletic, Lafferty or Bellerive right now. |
