You can't hate on this acquisition, he's a two time cup champ in exchange for an ECHL contract. Win 10/10.

Its a cap dump by Chicago... but Olli can put up points and move the puck. He is slow... quite slow... but very very good instincts and anticipation to make up for the foot speed.

Actually think Maata will be a good fit for a possession team like LA. Top 4 skill set with ECHL wheels.

Pens fan perspective. Olli is a solid if not great d man. Has been since his rookie year. He never improved from his good rookie year so as a non rookie he looked worse. Don’t play him with a poopy partner and he will do a decent job.

Im fine with getting Maatta. But if he was really a buy out candidate for the Hawks. How is it we only got 750k retained but not another asset?

There wasn't a "meh" option in the poll. I would have picked that one.

The amount that Chicago retained on the trade was almost identical to the buyout cap hit if they would have bought him out. LA gets a player they want/need, Chicago dumps the contract they were probably going to buy out anyway, but does right by the player. There was really no incentive for the Hawks to give up an asset.
