We actually received a 2nd "37th" and a 3rd "70th" for the trade not a 7th

I disliked the trade at first but actually it's not a bad return for Kunin. Decent picks and Bonino to flip before the TDL.

It also gives them some more flexibility for the expansion draft for doing the 8 skaters now and not worrying about loosing Dumba for nothing if not moved by then. I agree that if Bonino has a decent 1st part of the year that he'll be a great asset at the deadline for the Wild.

I thought Kunin was part of the youth movement however it makes sense after the explanation of protecting players for the expansion and the potential of moving NB at the trade deadline for another draft pick

Donato and Kunin never showed consistently. I believe that Greenway is looking at the same outcome next year if he does not step it up. But his size gave him another chance. Bonino replaces Stahl in the locker room as a cup winner but in a time the younger players can relate, 2016 and 2017 not 2006. Plus 5 years younger. Now Guerin needs to find a veteran goalie to show Kahkonen how to be a NHL Goalie not a backup like Stalock been his whole career. So by mid season the kid can take over either as the #1 or 1B allowing us to play the hot goalie at the time.
