Honestly, I was shocked they went G back to back, but glass half full here, at least they restocked their cupboard, which was pretty bare after trading Gustavsson.

Will it matter in the long run? Hard to say. Maybe we get lucky and one of these guys will be ready to be the franchise tender when the Pens are back to contending after the inevitable rebuild.

A lot of writers are comparing Gruden to a younger Hornqvist type. Someone who works hard, does most of his damage around the net. Will dish out checks, forechecks well. His hard work seems to allow him to out perform his critics

A good goalie can cover up a lot of weaknesses and can carry a really bad team. We're about four years away from being a really bad team. Taking a flier on a couple isn't the worst strategy in the world.

There's nothing wrong with Sam Lafferties in the system. What I was getting at in my sarcastic comment is that its good to have these guys so that you can have them around for call up/4th line duty without having a vet of the same caliber take up over $1 mil to play that role.
